Distillation is one method of creating and working with this medicine. For exactly how long humans have been practicing this craft may never truly be known. Recently there’s been a resurgence of interest in aromatic/ distillate medicine, the practical and magical (which I say that’s also practical). Being able to work with aromatic medicine safely, sustainable and authentically can open doors for our personal and collective journey. In our time together you’ll be introduced to the history, traditions, methods, and application of aromatic medicine and botanical distillation. We’ll explore the transformational ways in which the medicine produced from botanical distillation - essential oils and hydrosols - can be applied in life, healing, connection and evolution of the soul. As an intro class, this knowledge share will cover a lot of ground and be taught from a lens of sustainable practices & uses.

About the instructor:
Ash Sierra is driven by a desire to bridge gaps between the human and plant worlds. She is the heart and soul behind Ritual Botanica, a small-batch Appalachian apothecary specializing in botanical distillation & herbal medicine. Her background as a clinical herbalist, farmer, distiller, and astrologer are wrapped up in a practice focused on mental wellness and empowerment through an eclectic range of modalities including evolutionary, traditional and medical astrology, depth psychology, hermeticism, eco-psyschology, hermeticism and vitalism. Since 2011 she’s dedicated years of her herbal journey to the craft of distillation and loves sharing it with other like-minded plant people, the type who enjoys a bit of magic and a bit of science.
