Choose this version for the Yale rim-cylinder job

This is the rim-cylinder version for compatible Yale-profile locks. For Yale Euro cylinders, compare the dedicated Yale Euro cylinder version.

Why buy this

Turn a common UK rim-cylinder profile into a structured lesson

Many beginners can rake a simple practice lock but get lost when every pin feels the same. This Lishi-style rim-cylinder tool narrows the job to one compatible Yale-profile cylinder family, then gives you a visible grid for position, lift, and decoding after a successful pick.

Make rim cylinders readable

Use the grid to connect each pin position with what you feel through the tool.

Practise a familiar UK format

Build focused skill on compatible Yale-profile rim cylinders rather than switching tools at random.

Learn picking and decoding together

After the cylinder is picked, use the marks to understand depth readings on the matching keyway.

What it is for

Structured work on one common rim-cylinder profile

Rim cylinder fit

Made for compatible Yale-profile 5 and 6 pin rim cylinders, including the night-latch style format many UK buyers recognise.

Guided picking

The grid helps you track pin position, lift, and feedback as you work through the stack.

Decoder marks

After a successful pick, the decoder scale helps read depths for the matching keyway.

How it is used

Tension, lift, read, then decode

The tool does not remove the fundamentals. Use controlled tension, find the binding pin, lift through the guided scale, and move through the stack deliberately. Once picked, use the decoder marks to read the compatible cylinder.

Pick

Work through pin positions with the integrated pick tip.

Track

Use the markings to keep the job organised rather than guessing.

Decode

Read depths after the cylinder is open and the keyway fit is confirmed.

Fit first

Rim cylinder and Euro cylinder tools are not the same choice

Buy by cylinder format and keyway, not just by the Yale name. This rim-cylinder version is for the rim-cylinder job. If the lock is a Euro cylinder, use the Euro version so the tool orientation and markings make sense.

  • Use this page for Yale-profile rim cylinders.
  • Use the Euro page for Yale-profile Euro cylinders.
  • Practise on locks you own or are authorised to open.
Practice route

Use the grid to slow the lesson down

Start with a known compatible rim cylinder. Apply light tension, work pin by pin, and use the grid to connect hand feedback with position. When decoding, move carefully and record what the depth marks tell you.

For more controlled lock picking practice, browse practice locks and build sessions around one cylinder family at a time.

Questions

Quick answers before you buy

Is this for every Yale rim lock?

It is for compatible 5 and 6 pin Yale-profile rim cylinders. Match the keyway and lock format before choosing.

What is the decoder for?

After picking the cylinder, the depth scale helps read the cuts for the compatible keyway.

Should I buy this or the Euro version?

Can a learner use it?

Yes, with a matching practice lock and patient tension work. The grid helps structure the lesson, but practice still matters.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Fun with a late blooming omega
Format: Kindle
I like this book. The story is fun, cute, and sexy. There's just a little drama, some excellent, steamy scenes, and a fairly good relationship building storyline. I especially like how all the main characters are a bit older than the usual 20 somethings I tend to see in this kind of book. Having said that, I wish there were more descriptions of the places, as well as the food in the fancy restaurant. I enjoyed the cocktails at the club, so I missed that kind of detail when Gray took Madison on a dinner date. I also wish there had been more interaction between Lucas and Madison, and Lucas and Rian. It felt a bit lopsided, with a focus on Rian, Madison, and Gray. I wish it had been proofread - there are a lot of typos, but nothing too distracting.

Madison Deserved Better
Format: Kindle
Madison was a beta...except she wasn't any longer. She was a late presenting Omega. And she was struggling. She was tall and thin, not tiny and curvy. She was opinionated. She was everything an Omega was not. After suffering through her first heat, her friends took her to Ardor, a club where Omegas came to safely find Alphas. She's not expecting much but then she connects with a sexy beta. And when she meets his Alphas, they set her body on fire. Maybe, she's found her no-strings-attached heat pack. Maybe, she's found something more. I could not connect with the characters in this book, so their story never resonated with me. And there was no love story; there was sex. Grey made it clear from the beginning that he had a true love and it was his beta boy, Rian. He went so far as to reassure Rian “Say the word, I’ll never touch her again. Lucas can put the babies in her. I only need you, beta boy”. So, Madison was there for babies, no emotions needed. Nice. No, thank you. I want the Omega to be the center of their world, not an incubator. Lucas and Rian weren't any better. After her heat, they let her leave. Not one of them made her feel valued. No one gave her a reason to stay or even offered a cuddle. And the sex didn't even come across as mind-blowing. Madison deserved better.
