How to make sense of the astonishing upheaval of Spring 2020 and following? Normal life Ð in which expected rights and freedoms were taken for granted Ð came to be replaced by a new society as managed by a medical/ruling elite that promised but failed to deliver virus mitigation, all in the name of public health. Meanwhile, weÕve lost so much of what we once had: travel freedoms, privacy, a democratic presumption of equality, commercial freedoms, and even the access to information portals. Something has gone very wrong.

To make sense of it all, the Brownstone Institute is pleased to announce the publication of The Great Covid Panic: What Happened, Why, and What To Do Next, by Paul Frijters, Gigi Foster, and Michael Baker. Combining rigorous scholarship with evocative and accessible prose, the book covers all the issues central to the pandemic and the disastrous policy response, a narrative as comprehensive as it is intellectually devastating. In short, this is THE book the world needs right now.

In the Great Panic of early 2020, nearly every government in the world restricted the movement of its population, disrupted the education of its children, suspended normal individual liberties, hijacked its healthcare system, and in other ways increased its direct control of peopleÕs lives. Attempts to control the new coronavirus in most countries made the number of deaths from both the virus and other health problems rise. Some countries and regions snapped out of the madness in early 2021 or even before. Yet other governments, still in 2021, were ever more fanatically obsessed with control.

Why did 2020 become, so suddenly and so forcefully, a year of global panic over a virus that for most people is barely more dangerous than a standard-issue flu virus? This book reveals how the madness started, what kept it going, and how it might end. This is also a book about stories and experiences, some real and some fictionalized to protect identities. Join Jane the complier, James the decider, and Jasmine the doubter, the three core protagonists of the narrative part of the book. Their experiences illustrate what happened to individuals and through them to whole societies, telling us Ñ if we care to listen Ñ how to avoid a repeat. This literary presentation is mixed with detailed reports of the actual data and deep research that has generally been obscured in the midst of media madness and obfuscation by public-health authority.

Good quality and comfortable. The strap on the back isn’t as adjustable as we would like. Ribs a little big but very durable.

Good value, works great, just the right size for me
Color: Tea Green, Style: Little Green Mini
I was concerned at first that the clean water/solution tank was small, but it's prefect for my needs. I was able to clean up 4 puppy-pee spots perfectly, and still have half the solution left over that I loaded in. I like that it is really compact so stores easily, that the cord and hose wind up nice and tight, and it can fit in a small space. Cleaning the dirty water tank was a breeze and took 2 minutes. Would recommend for spills and spot cleaning. Very handy and affordable.

Tiny but Mighty Cleaner That Saved My Couch
Color: Tea Green, Style: Little Green Mini, Color: Tea Green, Style: Little Green Mini
I had wanted the Bissell Little Green for the longest time. If you have pets or children, a portable carpet and upholstery cleaner like this can come in very handy. One of my cats unfortunately peed on my couch, and I thought it might be the end of the line for it since it is a power recliner with non removable cushions. I picked this up as a last resort, and honestly also as an excuse to finally buy one. I debated between the plug in and cordless versions, but ultimately chose the corded model because it has almost twice the suction power. At first I thought the suction felt a bit weak, but once I saw the liquid it was pulling up I was very impressed. During the passes I could literally see yellowish liquid being extracted. It was gross and satisfying at the same time. I was also surprised by how brown and dirty the recovered water was. This machine is tiny but mighty. Weighing around 7 pounds, the Little Green is light and easy to carry around the house. It is also a bit quieter than a traditional vacuum. Cleanup is straightforward. You simply remove the dirty water tank and rinse it out. The vacuum head attachment rinses easily as well. For the hose, you can use the self cleaning tool by pressing the nozzle and running water through it for about 30 seconds. There are still some lingering smells, but based on the color of the extracted water it clearly did a lot of work. I just need to do a few more cleaning sessions on my couch. I am glad I finally bit the bullet and gave the Little Green a try. This adorable little machine may have saved me hundreds of dollars compared to hiring a professional cleaner or replacing my couch. Overall, I would absolutely recommend it for pet owners and anyone who needs a reliable upholstery and spot cleaner.
