Berlin-based Robert Henke is best known for his work as Monolake, and as the software technology developer for the pioneering Ableton music software. This is his fourth full-length solo release for his own label, Imbalance Computer Music. The new ambient work Layering Buddha is a dark, shimmering, epic journey, solely created with sounds taken from the famous FM3 Buddha Machine. By transforming, filtering and massively layering the thin buzzing audio sound from this device he has achieved intrusive and dense soundscapes with strong cinematic associations, slowly travelling into deeper and deeper sonic layers, opening spaces where the perception of time is extended, where microscopic details become visible, and where slight changes in color and timbre create sensations of giant structures moving slowly in the distance. The sound of the original Buddha Machine player was captured using state of the art recording equipment, capable of collecting artifacts far beyond the frequency response of the human ear. This made it possible to reveal hidden and usually inaudible aspects of the material during the processing, leading to sonically rich results full of incredible, almost organic detail. During the project, long permutating sequences were set up, using numerous independent layers of processed sound, all oscillating with their own frequency and breath. In a later production step, these long sequences were rearranged and cut down to obtain more closed works of different color. Finally, the most fascinating structures were chosen and assembled to form the Layering Buddha CD and limited edition vinyl. The CD has been compiled to work best as one long audio piece where the order of the tracks, and the way they interleave, guides the listener through different moods and places. Part of the fascination of the original FM3 Buddha Machine comes from the fact that it is a toy-like tool where one can experience each built-in loop as a solitary thing. But it's also a source of experimentation - turning on more than one player at a time is highly satisfying. The limited edition vinyl box is a reference to this. Each work on the five record set can be played at any speed but, just like the original Buddha Machines, playing back two or more records simultaneously allows the creation of an infinite number of variations. The artwork for the CD and the limited vinyl edition is based on a work by Australian photographer Justine Lera.

Works Pretty Great

Used it for a month so far. It looks cool and has a very strong magnetic connection on both the phone and watch pads. The stand has a good amount of weight to the base of it while still being small and compact. I was able to charge both my phone and watch simultaneously and it seems to work pretty well, though I’ll update this review if it ever fails. I have an ESR case and it holds my iPhone 14 Pro very firmly and I can rotate or angle it any way I’d like on the stand. HTX Studio ran battery health charging tests across multiple iPhone using wired vs. wireless charging and proved that wireless charging barely but still noticeably improves battery health (doesn’t degrade it as much) over time since it charges slightly slower and can manage its heat slightly better because of that. Do keep in mind that wireless charging is about 50% as efficient as wired charging so you’ll spend around $8-12 per year charging your phone instead of $4-6 (which is negligible for the convenience it offers in my opinion). Price is a little steep but this is the best charging stand I could find on Amazon after lots of research. It does not have active cooling but it’s made of aluminum and similar materials so it should handle heat better than say a silicone one would. Overall, it looks pretty nice and does what’s asked of it. See attached photos. Screenshots are from my phone being charged on the stand. I tested it with my Apple watch (series 9) and phone at the same time, too, but that’s not in the pictures. Latest update: I had issues with Apple Watch charging during the WatchOS 26 Release Candidate update but the full release resolved those issues.

These things work great for my apple products.

Used for apple watch, iphone 15 Pro Max and air pods pro. Have one that was purchased elsewhere and given to me as a gift.
Wanted another but was waiting for a price drop that was more in line with my feelings of what is a fair price. Amazon offered them at a decent price so sprung for a second. WHY?
They are very stable. Doesn’t feel like it will tip even with my phone on there horizontally.
Footprint is very small.
I can put the phone both vertical and horizontal and it charges great with both an Ultra 3 watch and an apple watch 11. Can also charge the air pods at the same time.
The best part that justifies the price is it comes WITH the watch charger right there on it. You don’t have to lace your own watch cord through some tiny space like some others I have owned. And the apple watch chargers are expensive.
Would easily fit in a bag to carry with me. Although it doesn’t fold down for travel.
Comes with the USB wall wort and the USB-C cable. C cable plugs into the single outlet on the back of the charging unit.
No issues with overheating of devices.
I bought the white one. The plastic charging pads for the phone and air pods are a light gray and they look good together and with the white. I just like white, but they have other colors.
It also charges my Anker Soundcore rechargable earbuds.
It has a white light that comes on when I put my items on the charger.
I will absolutely be getting another. Have been buying Anker products for a while. Nearly all have been fabulous. BUT they did have a recall on a 5000 or 10000 mAH portable charging pack. Cannot remember which it was. But amazon notified me about it, even before the recall hit the news.
Have had absolutely no problems with either one I have.

Awesome charger!

I have a few Anker chargers and this is definitely a favorite! I usually charge my phone and watch simultaneously so I got this one for traveling. I love the way my phone stands on the charger. It’s great to check the time when waking up. It charges my watch very quickly so I can put it back on before falling asleep. The fast charge and compact form is great for traveling. It’s also easy to plug in and charge my phone, watch, and earbuds at home. Anker chargers are my favorite. I’ve never had an issue with them and they work forever.

Another excellent Anker product

I always start my peripheral search with Anker. As all my Anker equipment are, it’s solid, compact and works as promised. If I get really picky, when I have my Air Pods charging, the band of my Apple Watch takes some extra effort to tuck in above it (a little more height would be appreciated, although it would work against its compactness). That’s a really minor gripe.
I love that the magnet is strong and that the orientation can be changed from landscape to portrait without removing it from the mount. It will fit into a suitcase easily and the AC adapter is small. I couldn’t be happier with it!

The only MagSafe charger you’ll ever need..!!

Yet another AWESOME charger from Anker..!! Unlike cheaper MagSafe chargers, this one almost reaches out and grabs your phone when you’re attaching it for charging.. Holds your phone securely for bedside mode at night and there’s no need for a 25W charger that’s more expensive.. Just a perfect size and works well… looks no further…. This is the bedside charger to get..!!
