Cartier Tank “Pallisandre de Rio”

Reference 20611 From 1977

Full Set – Originally Sold at Cartier New York – Unworn

An extraordinary and highly collectible example of the legendary Cartier Tank “Pallisandre de Rio”, also known as the Tank Wood. Produced during Cartier’s most experimental and daring design era of the mid-1970s, this reference stands among the rarest and most intriguing Tank models ever created.

This particular example is preserved in outstanding, near-new condition and remains a remarkably complete collector’s set — almost impossible to find today.

Case

  • Dimensions: 25 × 30 mm (large size for the era)

  • Condition: Like new, unworn

  • Original caseback sticker still present

  • Original mineral glass, spotless

The case retains sharp geometry and crisp edges, showing virtually no signs of wear. Finding a nearly 50-year-old Cartier in this untouched condition is exceptionally rare.

Originally sold at the Cartier New York City Boutique in 1977, this piece represents a true time capsule from one of Cartier’s most creative periods.

The Story – Cartier’s Bold Material Experiment

In the mid-1970s, Cartier boldly explored unconventional materials beyond traditional precious metals. The Pallisandre de Rio model is the most poetic and daring outcome of that experimentation.

Crafted using exotic Brazilian rosewood, this Tank broke every convention of classical watchmaking design. Production lasted only a short period (circa 1975–1976), with approximately 3,000 pieces believed to have been made before discontinuation. This example was sold in 1977!

Today, it stands as one of the rarest Tank references ever produced — and even rarer in full-set condition.

Dial

The highlight of this watch is its stunning Pallisandre de Rio wood dial.

Each dial is unique due to its natural grain, meaning no two examples are identical. The warmth and organic depth of the wood create a completely different aesthetic from traditional lacquer or enamel dials.

This example is beautifully preserved, with rich tone and flawless surface — a true collector-grade dial.

Movement

  • Manual-wind Cartier movement

  • Recently serviced

  • Running excellently and keeping accurate time

The movement has been professionally serviced and performs exactly as it should, making this watch not only highly collectible but fully functional and wearable.

Strap & Buckle

  • Original Cartier leather strap (perfect for collectors wishing to preserve originality)

  • Original Cartier buckle

  • Period correct and beautifully preserved

Retaining the original strap and buckle significantly enhances collectability — especially on a rare 1970s reference such as this.

Set & Provenance

  • Full set

  • Cartier box and original papers from 1977

  • Originally sold at Cartier New York

  • Never worn

Finding a Tank Pallisandre de Rio is rare. Finding one:

  • Unworn

  • With caseback sticker

  • With original strap and buckle

  • With box and papers

  • Originally sold at Cartier New York

…is exceptionally difficult and nearly impossible in today’s market.

Fae Courts with High Intrigue
Format: Kindle
This book is one that just builds and builds and then surprises you to no end. You may think you know the villains and then you are jolted in another direction. Princess Reyna is a real gem, strong of character, a fierce fighter, and loyal to her family and kingdom. Just when you think she and Lorcan, well you know, the plot is flipped. Can't wait to see where this goes in book two.

Slow, sorry but good
Format: Kindle
This was a slow moving book. Lots of character pov chapters, lots of superfluous descriptions and endless courtly appearances stalled this book to start. Once you get into the heart of the story, it takes off. Before you know it the book is done. My favorite character is Reyna. She is so strong. She is true to herself. She gets into a lot of trouble with her headstrong ways but it's entertaining. I have high hopes for Lorcan. He is honorable to a fault. Thane had turned out to be better than I thought but i still don't like him. Eislin is useless. Great plot twists at the end. I'm looking forward too book 2.

Very detailed! Beautiful world building! Strong Heroine!
Format: Kindle
Starts off a little slow and confusing with different POV’s, but starts to all come together towards the middle to make an elaborate plot line and makes it all worth it. Beautiful world building and attention to detail as well as great writing. The cliffhanger was gut wrenching! Can’t wait for the next book!

Interesting
Format: Kindle
This was a very captivating book once you got into it thoroughly. But the third person perspective was a bit hard to get used to. But as you got into it and followed the different characters, it was interesting and filled with intrigue, conflict and forbidden love. I can’t wait to read the next one and to complete the series.

OUTSTANDING
Format: Kindle
This was very, very good. The world is vast and characters are complex. There is a good plot with a whole lot going on. This is well written. Good twists and turns and some heart breaking moments. You will love these characters, they have heart and loyalty. I am hoping that there will be several more books. We've yet to see anything from the Sea Court but only a mention of them here and there. The Wood Court was given a quick couple of scenes, and only as far as some warriors, we've yet to enter their court and the Shadow Court, I'm not sure if they will be a force for good or bad, but they definitely will play a much bigger role moving forward. This is primarily the Ice and Air Courts. Told in multiple views, which I loved, it gives you a chance to see things from different eyes. There's alot of political maneuvering and deception. I loved it and will pick up the next book as it becomes available. If you like The Fae and the courts, you should love this. I think the author has mucn in store for us.
