Reviews

“Some trolls have tails and some exceptional trolls had an exceptionally long tail like the little boy named Sniggle-Snuggle.” When a human mother has a beautiful baby, she naturally wants others to see her beautiful baby. In this 100 year old tale, the mother troll wants what every mother wants, to show off her little boy with his beautiful long tail, a tail so beautiful humans should see it.
This book has all the elements you would want in a classic fairy tale, fairies, trolls, a witch, and humans who “are not always kind to those they do not understand”. Sometimes, the kindest hearts and love is found in those who are outcasts. The reader learns that you can’t judge character from someone’s appearance. The journey to finding your self-worth can be a long one, and like a classic fairy tale, there is a happy ending. Original illustrations in darker tones echo the fairy tales of centuries past, while the colorful watercolors add a lightness and warmth that modernizes the tale.
As a High School teacher, I have used children’s books to illustrate themes or topics or to prompt open ended writing responses. The Journey of Sniggle-Snuggle is one of those special books that would work with children of all ages from preschool to teens. This story abounds with life lessons , morals, ethics, and can be used as a teaching tool on so many levels depending upon the age of the reader. I highly recommend this book, which will be read and reread by all who love a good fairy tale." - Phyllis Story
"I thoroughly enjoyed the story; it was unique and captivating. I like that it originated with the author's grandmother. My granddaughters liked it as well. They found the pictures to be interesting although a bit strange and scary." - Alice Bonner

"I love that Julia has carried this Swedish Fairy forward for all to enjoy. Wonderful and refreshing difference from stories of today. So many emotions and NO violence, teaching lessons of adversity, perseverance, determination and Sniggle Snuggle is a superhero I am looking forward to sharing this fairy tale with my grandkids."

**Actual Rating 4.5** Highly enjoyable read!
Format: Kindle
Overall This is a very well written fast paced read. Hannah is an excellent character with a strong moral compass. It has a bit of a slow start but picks up very quickly. It’s historical references are fantastic and the setting was beautifully drawn. It’s appropriate for the age range and even endeavors to show how actions have consequences. However, there were a lot of unresolved threads and even the outcome didn’t sufficiently demonstrate much of the short story strived to demonstrate. That being said this short story read was well worth the time I very much enjoyed this little read. Best part is there are historical references. This is not the first iteration of the Salem Witch Trials, typically the story goes in one of two directions, where it was true (there were witches) or faked (girls on a power trip). This has been repeated through history and despite the excitement at the prospect of witches in 1692 Salem, the latter and the premise of this story is far more plausible. Rating 4.5 (rounded down) A strong educational and historical novella that’s setting and characterization leave a positive impression. Where did I copy? Amazon.

Correct research and good writing
Format: Kindle
I Escaped the Salem Witch Trials is a gripping recreation of what happened in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. It is told from the point of view of one girl who wasn’t swept up in the hysteria that gripped so many of her companions. The characters are believable and skillfully drawn and the reader understands the fear that must have clutched the inhabitants of the small town of Salem. The narrative loses a little steam when it comes to the escape from the Boston gaol, but that doesn’t detract from the historically accurate depiction of these infamous trials. The details have been well researched, and the book’s production values are excellent. I would recommend this to any school children who want to gain some insight into how the witch trials came about, or any parents who want to learn a little about the dark side of our puritan ancestors.

Loved it!! It makes history come alive!!
Format: Paperback
I bought this book for my niece who has enjoyed all of the I Escaped books. I read it too and I can say that this one really makes history come alive! The Salem witch hunt is a disturbing and scary topic but I like how the author makes it relevant to today. The main character Hannah has to stand up to the bullies in a sort of mean girl clique and she is a really strong female protagonist! There’s a lot of interesting facts about the Puritans and about the people involved in the Witch trials too. I highly recommend! Loved it!!

Perfect summer read for children and adults.
Format: Paperback
My daughter recommended this book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and it made me feel grateful that I was not born during this era in history. I felt apprehension, anger and sadness, for the characters in the book, who were wrongfully accused and punished for something they weren't guilty of: consorting with the Devil.
