The inspiration of morning rays
The Cordage Solaire draws its formal vocabulary from nature: the morning sun disk, those rays that blossom at dawn from the sun's point of appearance on the horizon. The woven rope faithfully reproduces this directional radiance — each fiber follows a radiating trajectory from the center to the periphery, creating a geometric pattern as rigorous as it is organic. When lit, the pendant becomes a luminous metaphor: the source at the heart of the hat filters through the fibers to cast openwork shadows that evoke the passage of light through tree foliage in the morning. It's the domestic poetry of nature transposed into a decorative object, exactly in the spirit of Japandi design which celebrates the soothing beauty of natural materials.

Why the flat hat format?

Unlike voluminous pendants that occupy vertical space, the Cordage Solaire favors the flattened horizontal format. This thin, wavy hat silhouette offers several advantages: extreme visual lightness — the object does not weigh down the room and preserves the feeling of space; wide light diffusion — the extended surface projects diffuse light over a considerable area; compatibility with standard ceiling heights — no need for a large vertical volume to flourish. The radial weaving accentuates the radiant surface effect, making the luminaire appear even wider than it is.

Bulb tip. Choose an E27 Edison LED filament bulb, warm white (2700K), intensity 600-800 lumens, globe or Edison shape. The Edison shape with its visible filament is particularly suitable: its centered light point and decorative filament create a strong aesthetic contrast with the woven rope surrounding it, and the openwork shadows cast by the fibers become more pronounced on the walls and ceiling. Avoid frosted globe LEDs, which would diminish this light filtering effect through the woven fibers.

Cordage Solaire vs Saturne Lumineux vs SCREEN Rotin? All three are luminaires made of natural woven materials from the range, but their identities differ radically. Saturne Lumineux: thick disk of radial woven rattan/bamboo with a more voluminous structure — flattened dome shape. Avoid prolonged moisture: do not install in open kitchens above cooktops, in bathrooms, or in any area with high condensation — moisture can cause the rope to mold in the long term. Avoid intense heat sources in close proximity. For maintenance, regular dusting with a natural feather duster or soft dry cloth is essential — dust accumulates more easily on woven rope than on smooth surfaces. Absolutely avoid water, sprays, and solvents that could mark or discolour the rope.

Which diameter should I choose for my room?
The 50 cm is suitable for compact spaces: office, entrance console, reading nook, student room. The 60 cm is versatile: adult bedroom, compact living room, 4-seater dining table. The 80 cm is designed for larger spaces: large living room, 6-seater table, convivial dining room. The 100 cm is an architectural centerpiece for a large living room, hall, zen restaurant, or loft. Why rope and not rattan?
Rope is a finer and more regular material than rattan, which allows for an extremely precise radial weave and the characteristic wavy flat hat format of the Cordage Solaire. Rattan (used in our Saturne Lumineux) is a thicker and more rigid material, better suited for voluminous dome structures. Rope offers unparalleled aesthetic finesse and visual lightness, perfectly suited to the "morning rays" inspiration of the design. Both materials have their own identities and coexist harmoniously in the range.
Which bulb should I choose to reveal the weaving?
An E27 Edison LED filament bulb, warm white (2700 Kelvin), intensity 600 to 800 lumens. Is the luminaire suitable for a kitchen?
With precautions. Rope is a natural material sensitive to prolonged moisture and greasy cooking fumes. If you wish to install it in a kitchen, choose a location away from the cooktops (e.g., above an island more than 2 meters from the burners, or above a dining table in an open-plan kitchen). Avoid very humid or poorly ventilated kitchens. For a pendant in a very active kitchen, we recommend our glass or metal luminaires (Berman, Brass Gold, Lustre Arborescent).
How to maintain the braided rope?
Regular dusting with a natural feather duster or a soft, dry microfiber cloth — this is essential because dust accumulates more easily on braided rope than on smooth surfaces. For stubborn marks, never use water or liquid products, which could stain or warp the rope. A soft brush with natural bristles can help dislodge dust embedded in the fibers. Absolutely avoid damp cloths, cleaning sprays, solvents, and sponges. With these precautions, the rope will retain its original appearance for many years.
Will the rope yellow over time?
Natural rope may undergo a slight chromatic evolution over the years due to natural light and the environment (UV, slow oxidation). This evolution generally results in a slight darkening of the shade towards warmer hues — which is usually perceived as an aesthetic patina enriching the character of the material. To slow down this evolution, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight (closed curtains during the day if exposure is strong). To preserve the original shade as much as possible, regular maintenance and a location away from direct sunlight are key.
How to install the Solar Rope?
Installation is standard: the ceiling rose is fixed to a standard ceiling junction box. The suspension height is adjustable during installation using the provided cable. Since the fixture is relatively light (rope + thin steel), no reinforced mounting is generally necessary for the 50-80 cm models. For the 100 cm size, however, check the solidity of your ceiling support. If your electrical installation is not up to standard, call a qualified electrician. Handling: the rope is resistant but avoid pulling or bending the fibers during unpacking and installation.

I got these for the toddler, who is living her best life as a princess. She is allowed to wear these for dress up and she absolutely adores them. I apply them to the apples of her cheeks, on the tip of her nose, and on her arms and ankles like fancy bracelets. At this rate, they won't last long, and because they are used for play, I end up pulling them off the rugs and upholstery for days afterward. It's like a game for mom! They are lovely and fun and she absolutely adores them. The only downstar is for the adhesive quality. Now, this might be just me because I received them during a severe winter storm and they stayed in the mailbox for several days of below zero weather, but the sticky backing peels off quite easily from many of them. It's easy enough to fix with the tweezers that are supplied, but you might want to pay attention to that detail. At bath time, I am finding many pieces of the tape no longer attached to a jewel. I don't know if my bunch were damaged because of the cold, but if you're planning to go to the club, I would bring extras. If you're using them for playtime, just beware that you might find them in all kinds of unexpected places. They definitely won't hold up to bath time, so take them off first, to avoid clogging up the plumbing.
