How does the flip-top cap work? The cap pivots backward under thumb pressure — this movement simultaneously opens the gas valve and generates the ignition spark. The flame is active as soon as the cap is in the open position. To extinguish, simply close the cap. It's a one-motion mechanism, without separate manipulation of the ignition button.

Apollo Expert vs classic button lighter: on a standard lighter, ignition requires two actions — removing the lid then pressing the button. The Apollo Expert combines these two actions into one. This is particularly useful when holding a cigar with one hand and needing to light it with the other without putting anything down.
