Optical 24x Zoom & 74.1° Horizontal Wide Angle Lens

Adding "iZoom" to the AW-UE80's exceptional 24x optical zoom, maintains high resolution while enabling ultra-high resolution 36x zoom in HD mode. This enables distant subjects to be captured clearly. Furthermore, 74.1° horizontal wide-angle shooting allows you to capture the entire area with one camera, even when installation space is limited.

Versatile Video Outputs for a Range of Video Productions

The AW-UE80 supports three popular output interfaces, including 3G-SDI, HDMI and IP, providing you with a range of options for current camera installations, while also preparing you for future video workflows.

Multiple Control Options for Small or Large Scale Production

The AW-UE80 can be controlled via the web browser when connected to the network, allowing for quick and easy camera movement, preset access, and image adjustments. Additionally, the camera can be controlled using the AW-RM50 IR remote control and the AW-RP150 / AW-RP60 hardware-based camera controllers. These control choices make it easy to integrate the UE80 into your video production workflow.

An IP connection from the AW-RP150 Remote Camera Controller through a HUB (switching hub) enables control of up to 200  x AW-UE80 cameras. Furthermore, a single AW-UE80 unit can be controlled from up to 5 x AW-RP150 units.

Live AR/VR Video Production via FreeD Protocol

To be able to incorporate realistic VR (virtual reality) or AR (augmented reality) studio sets in your live productions, accurate camera positioning data is imperative. The AW-UE80 features the FreeD protocol, which provides you with the option to output Pan / Tilt / Zoom / Iris information via Serial (RS 422) and IP (UDP) directly from the camera to your AR/VR tracking system.

Flexible Installation & Mounting Options

Weighing only 4.4 lbs, the AW-UE80 is lightweight and compact enough for easy permanent or portable installs. It’s equipped with a turn lock mechanism for easy installation and comes standard with a safety cable for extra security and peace of mind.

  • Blend-in: The camera is exceptionally easy to integrate and is available in two colors (AW-UE80W: pearl white / AW-UE80K: black matte) to suit a wide range of applications.
  • Ceiling Mount: A twist-lock ceiling mount is included as a standard accessory.
  • Tripod Mount: The UE80 is also equipped with a 1/4-20 tripod mounting screw receptacle and a safety lanyard for use with many mounting and grip systems.
  • Wall Mount: An optional heavy-duty wall mount is available in either black (FEC-40WMK) or white (FEC-40WMW).
  • Pole Mount: Easily mount the UE80 to an A/V ceiling extension pole by pairing the FEC-40WM wall mount with the FEC-PA1 adapter.

Fresh New Web Interface

Camera IP image output, settings, and control can be performed using a web browser on a computer connected via an IP network. In addition to PCs and Macs, iPads, iPhones, Androids and other mobile devices can be used for operation, and this pursuit of easy-to-use interfaces has enabled smooth camera control from remote locations.

Supports SRT for Secure and Reliable Video Streaming

The AW-UE80 supports SRT, a next generation video transport protocol that provides robust security and works well even with an unstable network environment. This prevents trouble such as transmission interruptions during program production or event recording, thus assuring stable and reliable video streaming. This protocol can prevent risks such as information leakage, so it can be used safely for any video content.

Directly Integrates into the NDI Ecosystem

The AW-UE80 supports high bandwidth NDI® for IP transmission of high-quality videos with low latency and NDI®|HX for efficient video transmission on a network with limited bandwidth. With this flexibility, the UE80 can provide stable video streaming regardless of network bandwidth.  Since the video source is accessible from any device on the same network, even unknown IP addresses are automatically recognized. This allows for a flexible video production flow at the shooting site.

Smooth Camera Movement & Quiet Operation with Direct Drive System

The operating sound is quiet so there is no need to worry about the camera sound spoiling the ambience even when producing a reality show or recording an event. The new direct-drive motor operates quietly during panning (horizontal movement) and tilting (vertical movement) so it does not disturb the recording of crucial scenes.

What’s more, the new direct-drive motor stops precisely at a desired position, returns exactly to a preset position when the preset function is used for accurate camerawork, moves smoothly to accurately follow subjects moving at different speeds and allows speed setting. Combined with the quietness of operations, these features and functions can play an active part in a diversity of video production.

Single Cable Installation with PoE++

With PoE++ technology , the AW-UE80 offers an optimal level of installation flexibility, providing not just power to the camera, but also enabling camera control and audio/video output, all via a single LAN cable. Using PoE++ with the UE80 camera simplifies cable runs, decreases overall installation costs, and in some cases, eliminates the need for having a dedicated electrician onsite for the install.

Useful Software to Simplify Workflow

The AW-UE80 supports various software such as Auto Tracking Software and PTZ Control Center. The software simplifies the shooting workflow using PTZ cameras and reduces the operation and management workloads.

Must read book on African colonial sociology and politics
Fanon describes the character of (European) colonialists, the colonised Africans (the "masses" - rural and urban, the elites, the nationalists, the tribalists) wonderfully. The book is wonderfully written - Fanon must have been a good writer. Fanon is a psychiatrist, and worked in Algeria as psychiatrist, but he many have travelled other African countries too. His book shows his deep knowledge of both African and European sociology, psychology and politics. The book is still relevant; his analysis as to what will happen after the liberation of African countries is amazingly valid. He is in a way one of the most important African (though he is born in Latin America) sociologist and political scientist. Fanon's book starts on "violence", he doesn't shy away from prescribing violence in the struggle for liberation. Some find Fanon advocating violence, but that is not the case. He puts in perspective the violence perpetrated by colonists against the resulting reaction that culminates in the violence of the colonised. His clear analysis demystifies the violence that still grips Africa. Unfortunately Fanon seems to put all European in Africa as colonists. Many cases from South Africa show that that should not be the case. But his views may be due to the brutal repression he has to witness and experience in Algeria by the French government and French citizens there.

Colonialism not dead yet
This is a review of the 2004 Grove paperback edition of Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth The Wretched of the Earth is the most famous work of Algerian revolutionary Franz Fanon (1925-1961) finished and published shortly before his death (he died of leukemia). Fanon is known above all as a theorist of revolutionary violence and a champion of its therapeutic good for the oppressed. However, this book is not about armed struggle only; it covers many other topics: theory of class conflict in colonies, revolutionary process and subjects of social change in the Third World, the future of new independent states (former colonies), strategies of building Third World—First World relations in a right way, the relationship between the struggle for national culture and national liberation struggles, consequences of colonialism for both the colonizer and the colonized, etc. It’s a book of an angry man; the author's revolutionary pathos and standing with the oppressed (‘the wretched of the earth’) are noticeable. Though Fanon wrote his book drawing on the experience of the Africa of the 1950s an acute reader can easily notice similarities and parallels with what’s going on in the underdeveloped countries all over the world. The book can be of particular use for anthropologists, historians, philosophers, sociologists, as well as for those interested in cultural studies. I prefer Richard Philcox’s translation to the one published in 1963. Citizens of the global South can skip Jean-Paul Sartre’s preface; let the author speak for himself.

Influential and Insightful
Frantz Fanon's The Wretched of the Earth is an important document in the history of imperialism capturing the state of the Algerian revolution and the struggle for independence in the Third World at a crucial time. The year was 1961, and the book was published just before Fanon's premature death. Algeria was a year away from independence. The Congo had just achieved a travesty of independence. The Cuban revolution was still fresh. Fanon was born in Martinique but was fully committed to the Algerian cause by the end of his life. His insights into the pitfalls threatening newly-independent nations have proved to be uncannily accurate. His voice is of his time and ahead of his time. I would recommend this book to those wanting to learn more about the Algerian War and to those curious about the huge effect of this book on the leftists of the 1960s.

A SIXTIES CLASSIC WE HAVE MOVED ON FROM OR BACK OF/
Format: Paperback
i am 90 years old. i was a student in the 60s but i had already served in the military so i was already in my 30s. Which meant with a wife and twins i was more concerned with earning a living and finishing my doctorate than participating BUT it was a time when we swung one way as a nation and we were part of the post war swing of the world. The world had developed empires, WW1 began their downfall, ww2 pretty much finished the rest BUT it opened the door for new imperialism. On one hand colonialism melted away. The greatest empire ever, the British faded to legend and an island itself breaking up. American imperialism sprouted along with Soviet. And now China and Russia. One old model, Russia, one new model China. But the world i cyclical not progressive so China may become another imperial power. Fanon is an antidote as are other writers of the 60s so good to see new editions. Many rebels are now out of print. History is always ignored but it is always present.
