By: Isabel VincentIsabel Vincent’s groundbreaking exploration brings to light a dark chapter in our recent history: the white slave trade and the international Jewish mobsters behind it.
From the end of the 1860s until the beginning of the Second World War, thousands of young, impoverished Jewish women, most of them from the hard-scrabble shtetls of Eastern Europe, were sold into slavery by a notorious gang of mobsters called the Zwi Migdal. While the enterprise controlled brothels in various locales, its main centres of operation were Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and, to a lesser extent, New York City.
To recruit vulnerable country girls, pimps would target villages of desperate poverty, where they posed as respectable suitors of considerable means who had made their money abroad. They would arrange sham marriages to their victims and promise them an easy life in the New World. But once they’d crossed the ocean, these Jewish women found themselves caught up in the white slave trade.
Under frequently brutal conditions, the young women had to service the needs of a booming population of immigrant men. An added hardship to endure was being vehemently shunned by the “respectable” Jewish community. Banned from synagogue and reviled by their neighbors, the women were forbidden from partaking in the sacred Jewish burial ritual. So prostitutes banded together to form the Society of Truth, with the promise to do all could they could to help each other be buried in dignity. Through the society the women observed religious life together, setting up private synagogues and kosher kitchens. Cast aside by their community, they created their own: a society of love, honour to God and faith in each other.
With the determination and skill of her training as an investigative journalist, Isabel Vincent tells an unforgettable and gripping tale of a shameful chapter in recent history.

Comfortable Flip-Flops with a Clean, Sporty Look
Size: 13, Color: Black/Geyser
I picked up the Columbia Men’s PFG Castback Flip in the black and white colorway, and the first thing I noticed was how comfortable they felt right out of the box.
How They’ve Been Used:
Even though it’s still winter, I’ve been wearing them around the house occasionally to get a feel for the fit and comfort. I plan to use them more regularly outdoors once the weather warms up.
What Worked Well:
Immediate Comfort: The footbed feels cushioned and supportive without needing a break-in period.
Secure Fit: The straps sit comfortably without rubbing or feeling stiff.
Lightweight Design: Easy to slip on and off for quick wear.
Clean Style: The black and white combination gives them a sharp, versatile look.
Positive Feedback: My wife has already commented on how good they look.
Things to Keep in Mind:
Seasonal Use: Best suited for warmer weather and casual settings.
Sizing: Checking the size guide helps ensure the right fit.
Bottom Line:
Based on my experience so far, these flip-flops offer a great balance of comfort and style. They’re comfortable enough for everyday wear and look sharp enough for casual outings. I’m looking forward to putting them to full use once spring arrives.

Columbia always makes great stuff
Size: 14, Color: Espresso II/Black
Even with my flat feet these offer a lot of padding which makes these extremely comfortable. They increase my height about an inch haha. These are great for walking around the beach or just going for walks. The tread on the bottom of these make walking up hills where the surfaces are not completely even extremely easy and very grippy. Time will tell how durable these are, but so far they're holding up very well.

Comfortable Lightweight Flip Flops with Reliable Grip
Size: 9, Color: Black/Geyser, Size: 9, Color: Black/Geyser
These flip flops have an excellent fit with a cushioned footbed that makes them very comfortable to wear for long periods. The grip is strong on wet surfaces, which adds confidence when walking around pools, beaches, or after rain. The overall quality feels top tier, and the color looks clean and well finished. They are lightweight, and the sizing was spot on, making them easy to slip on and wear throughout the day.

Comfortable, Lightweight, and Easy for Everyday Wear
Size: 8, Color: Black/Geyser
I picked these up mainly for casual wear and beach days, and they’ve honestly been a great grab. They were comfortable right out of the box, which isn’t always the case with flip flops. The footbed has a little bit of cushion without feeling overly soft or flimsy. They feel supportive enough for running quick errands but still light and easy to slide on.
The fit was true to size for me. They’re maybe slightly roomy in the toe area, but not in a way that bothers me. The straps don’t rub or dig in, which is usually my biggest concern with sandals like this.
They also seem well made. The material feels durable and not cheap, and they have that simple Columbia look that works with shorts or just something casual around the house.
Overall, solid pair of flips. Nothing flashy, just comfortable and reliable. I’d definitely buy them again.

Great, durable toy
Color: Blue-Red, Size: Extra Large Size 5 (9")
I’ve had this toy for a while now and my dog absolutely loves it. I frequently bring it to the dog park with us and it’s also loved by other dogs. The ball is pretty durable. My dog is not a big chewer but other dogs that play and chew on it haven’t been able to pierce it yet. The handles are sturdy and also still intact. Overall a little pricey but in my opinion worth it.
