Yesterday’s Flowers echoes depictions of flora from throughout art history, serving not just as decorative elements, but as mines of deeper meaning. From Renaissance symbolism and the Vanitas still life, to Monet’s contemplative gardens and O’Keeffe’s powerful explorations of colour and form, flowers have long embodied the dichotomies of transience and permanence. Continuing this artistic tradition, Depp presents the flower motif as a symbol of family, loved ones and the vital resonance of memory, as an enduring emotional touchstone within an ever-changing world.

Depp’s 'How Things Change' triptych expands the series’ narrative from solitary reflection into shared experience. The shifting colours across the artwork’s panels suggest the transition from morning to evening, recording the daily passage of time or, from a wider lens, symbolising the progression of life itself. Picturing the roses in the pale light of dawn through to a deep evening glow, Depp signifies the continuity of family and friendships, always evolving but grounded in shared connections and memories. The motif of the rose, seen before in 'The Lovers' from Depp’s Tarot collection and 'A Rose Is a Rose Is a Rose', has always been a symbol of love, devotion and optimism for the artist. Now the roses rise upwards, in full majestic bloom, not in quiet contemplation, but in bold adulation of these essential human connections.

Yesterday’s Flowers captures the beauty of the lived moment – a pure celebration of colour and atmospheric light, the blooms are Depp's most universal expressions of human connection. His signature mark-making and expressive treatment of the blooms reveals an artist revelling in the process of art making. Boldly stylised and richly textured, the surface of these works is brimming with creative energy and emotional resonance. To Depp, the imperfections often seen in Italian art and architecture speak to the depth of human experience, with vibrant flowers evoking visceral memories of loved ones across the layered tapestry of life. Here, nostalgia is not quiet and reflective, but alive and emotionally charged. The fleeting lifespan of flowers encourages us to appreciate the beauty of the present moment.

This artwork is a hand-signed mixed media on Somerset Satin 410gsm paper by Johnny Depp.

Its alright
Color: Black, Size: 5X-Large
True to size per the size chart. The fabric is soft but it it feels cheap to me. It attracts lint but you can brush it off easily so its not the cheapest material I've dealt with. Also, it is opaque (not see through). There is no front/ back indicator either which is indicative of a cheap shirt in my opinion. Would be friendly for tag sensitive people (to stay positive).

Gals can wear this too!
Color: 2 Pack(black+white), Size: XX-Large
Do you know how difficult it is to find a cotton mock turtleneck??? This review is NOT for guys but for gals. Being in menopause my temps are all over the place-- one minute I'm hot then I'm freezing. I needed a short sleeve (plus size) cotton mock turtleneck to wear under a cardigan. I'm so pleased with this shirt... the fabric is soft, NOT see-through, it's breathable since its primarily cotton (95%), it's not super tight, and it's comfortable. Hopefully the info will help other gals looking for similar shirts.
