"Eye Spy" - I've been lucky enough to see octopus while diving. They're bizarre and spectacularly beautiful creatures. I painted this one shortly after seeing My Octopus Teacher. If you've never seen it, you should watch it. Told from the first person perspective, the story recounts how the protagonist starting swimming again as a way to reconnect with himself and the ocean he once spent so much time in when he was younger. He meets an octopus who quickly chooses to befriend him and will approach him every time he goes diving. We watch as the octopus teaches him much about life in the ocean and for him - his life back on land. I was bawling when the octopus' life and story comes to an end in the circle of life. He was so fortunate to be chosen by such a remarkable create to be a student of life! Ok, now go watch it and give it a chance as it's a bit of a slow start.
