Engineered for high-density fiber networks, the Eaton Tripp Lite Series Fiber TAP Cassette delivers reliable, non-intrusive monitoring in a compact, modular package. Designed to install in the Tripp Lite N482-Series chassis, this multimode TAP (traffic access point) cassette splits optical fiber signals into two outputs—one for the user path and one for monitoring—without affecting active data transmission. Featuring an 8-fiber MPO-to-MPO design and four dedicated monitoring ports, it provides visible, actionable insights into network performance, traffic patterns, and fiber health. The passive nature of the cassette means there are no power requirements on-site, reducing energy consumption and minimizing points of failure while preserving signal integrity across multi-fiber links.

  • High-fidelity, non-intrusive monitoring: The TAP cassette taps a portion of the signal through a passive splitter, delivering a stable monitoring stream to the four monitoring ports while leaving the user path untouched and fully functional.
  • Robust multimode 8-fiber MPO-to-MPO architecture: Supports eight fibers in a compact form factor, enabling parallel signal handling and simplified deployment in dense data-center environments.
  • Precise 70/30 split for optimal visibility: The split ratio is designed to maximize monitoring clarity (30% to monitoring ports) while preserving the integrity and performance of the user data path (70%).
  • Seamless Tripp Lite N482-Series chassis compatibility: Engineered for quick insertion into compatible chassis, reducing installation time and enabling scalable, modular growth as network demands evolve.
  • Four dedicated monitoring ports for flexible analytics: Attach multiple monitoring tools, span ports, or inline sensors to capture comprehensive traffic insights without impacting production traffic.

How to install Eaton Tripp Lite Series Fiber TAP Cassette

  • Power down the Tripp Lite N482-Series chassis and all connected network equipment before installation to ensure safety and prevent data disruption.
  • Identify an available, compatible slot in the N482-Series chassis that supports the TAP cassette form factor and MPO backplane connectivity.
  • Remove the slot cover or blanking plate as needed to access the backplane, and inspect the slot for any dust or debris that could affect optical connections.
  • Align the TAP cassette with the chassis backplane, ensuring the MPO connectors are oriented correctly. Gently insert the cassette until it seats firmly and the latches engage securely.
  • Connect the MPO trunk cables to the cassette’s MPO ports according to labeling to ensure correct mapping of fibers. Use proper fiber handling practices to avoid damage or bending losses.
  • Attach the monitoring cables to the four dedicated monitoring ports. Label each port to facilitate accurate monitoring workflows and analytics.
  • Reinstall the chassis panel and power up the equipment. Confirm that the user data path remains active and that monitoring ports are transmitting signal to your analysis tools.
  • Run a basic light-level and continuity test on all fibers to verify proper insertion and connector integrity. Use appropriate optical test gear to confirm that the 70/30 split is functioning as designed and that monitoring ports receive adequate signal levels for analysis.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is a Fiber TAP Cassette? A TAP cassette is a passive fiber-optic component that splits a portion of the signal from a primary data path to dedicated monitoring ports, enabling non-intrusive analysis of network traffic without impacting user data transmission.
  • What does 70/30 mean for the TAP cassette? The 70/30 split indicates that 70% of the optical signal continues on the user path while 30% is diverted to monitoring ports for traffic analysis and monitoring purposes. This balance is chosen to preserve data integrity while providing meaningful monitoring visibility.
  • What fiber type is supported? The cassette is designed for multimode fiber applications, optimized for typical data-center and campus LAN environments that deploy multimode connectivity.
  • Is the TAP cassette hot-swappable? The design is intended to integrate into the Tripp Lite N482-Series chassis, with installation procedures that minimize downtime. Always follow proper RMA and safety guidelines when handling live systems.
  • How many monitoring ports are available? The product provides four dedicated monitoring ports, enabling flexible monitoring configurations and the connection of multiple analytics devices without interrupting production traffic.

An essential classic
Format: Paperback
The book has a scathing view of nobility and the upper class, with the regular people just a part of the scenery, so an allegory that has aged well and applies to modern times. I think it's an essential read to anyone who enjoys literature, as it can be argued that it's the genesis of many themes in modern stories.

Not bad, but still had flaws
Format: Paperback
While the novel was great in a way, I felt that it was outdated to me. It was written in the time that anti-heros were poorly made and if the creator of Reynard was aiming for Anti-hero when developing Reynard, he missed and hit sociopath instad. The pictures in the books are also outdated and laughable in our times. Reynard looks more like a shaved dog on the cover, I had a hard time identifying Noble the lion in his photos, ect. and the ending did`nt seem fullfilling though I felt a kick of excitment a few times.

Nice translation
Format: Paperback
It is not easy to translate poetry into poetry. It's bad enough simply trying to translate to prose. Ms. Terry does an excellent job. I read Le Roman de Renart in French while I was studying in France. Years later, I came across this translation. It is fascinating the way the original storytellers portrayed Renart. He is a completely hateful creature. Yet reading about him is fun. It's similar to how I feel about stories of Loki or Coyote. Renart is closer to Loki than to Coyote, despite the canine ancestry. He is more than simply a trickster: he is malevolent. If you have an interest in ancient folktales, you mustn't miss the story of Renart. This translation is different from any other I've read. The introduction gives a good perspective on the times when the stories were hatched.
