A scarcely seen, Mid Century ‘Tronto’ sideboard designed by leading architect Nils Jonsson for Hugo Troeds of Sweden.

The Trento sideboard is quite stunning in its simplicity, with clean architectural lines, smooth edges and perfect proportions. Beautifully curved recessed handles provide a tactile edge. The exterior is crafted from highly grained teak veneers with a gorgeous honey-gold patina. The interior is finished in blonde birch - two doors slide open to reveal separate cupboards with adjustable chamfered shelves, and four spacious drawers sit alongside, the uppermost drawer boasting a royal blue baize lining with dividers and a sliding tray inset.

Troeds was founded in Sweden in 1934 by Svea and Hugo Troedsson. Throughout the mid century era, Troeds manufactured some of Sweden's most celebrated and desireable pieces; collaborating with leading architects and designers to offer refined furniture designs that effortlessly combined elegant form and function, helping to define the Scandanavian Modern style. Their furniture became highly sought after in the UK during the 1960s, but it was only available to purchase at the most exclusive retailers - in London, Harrods and Liberty & Co were the only stockists - hence these days, Troeds furniture remains much harder to come by here in the UK than other mid century brands.

In excellent original condition, we have given it a simple clean and oil. There are some minor polished in marks as to be expected for it’s age, please take a look at the photographs for more detail.
