The Yamaha VS6 is a compact, high-performance surface-mount speaker designed to adapt seamlessly to almost any environment. As part of Yamaha’s VS Series, this black model offers a sleek, unobtrusive presence with the power and clarity required for professional applications—from retail spaces and restaurants to schools, offices, and small venues. Its smart, compact construction keeps sightlines clean while delivering dependable sound coverage, making it an ideal solution when interior design matters as much as acoustic performance. Whether you’re mounting it on a wall or ceiling, indoors or in sheltered outdoor areas, the VS6 provides versatile placement options and consistent Yamaha sound engineering you can trust. With the VS6, you get a practical blend of form and function: discreet design, reliable 25 W RMS power handling, and the flexibility to adapt to a wide range of applications.

  • Sleek, compact design that blends with modern interiors and preserves sightlines while delivering dependable sound. The black finish (with white model options available) ensures a seamless integration with diverse décor styles, from contemporary to traditional, without drawing undue attention away from your environment.
  • 25 W RMS power handling provides clear, intelligible audio for background music, paging, announcements, and ambient sound in small to mid-size spaces. The VS6 balances energy efficiency with adequate loudness, ensuring guests and customers experience consistent coverage without distortion. This capability makes it well suited for ambient music in dining areas, public-address cues in offices, or audible cues in classrooms and studios, all while maintaining fidelity across the frequency range.
  • Indoor/Outdoor surface-mount versatility enables quick, unobtrusive installation on walls or ceilings. The VS6’s design emphasizes flexible mounting options, allowing you to position the speaker for optimal coverage in a variety of layouts—from storefronts and reception areas to outdoor pergolas and covered walkways. Its compact footprint helps keep mounting risks low and aesthetics high, even in spaces with limited ceiling or wall real estate.
  • Available in black (with white variations available) to fit a broad range of color schemes and installation requirements. This color versatility helps you maintain a cohesive visual environment across multiple zones or venues, while the compact, unobtrusive profile preserves architectural integrity. The option to choose between black and white models provides additional flexibility for integrating the VS6 into diverse projects without compromising style or performance.
  • Trusted Yamaha engineering in a versatile VS Series speaker ensures consistent performance and reliability. The VS6 delivers the same core audio quality and build philosophy that Yamaha is known for, providing dependable operation in mixed environments and simplifying integration with other VS Series components. How to install Yamaha VS6

  • Plan your placement: Determine the best location for even acoustic coverage in the target space. Consider sightlines, potential obstructions, and the desired listening area. Choose a mounting surface that can support the speaker’s weight and provide access for wiring and adjustments.
  • Prepare the mounting surface: If mounting on a wall or ceiling, ensure the surface is clean, dry, and structurally capable of supporting the speaker. Gather the necessary hardware for surface mounting (screws, anchors, and mounting brackets as required by your installation scenario).
  • Mount the speaker: Use the supplied mounting hardware or manufacturer-recommended brackets to attach the VS6 securely to the chosen surface. Ensure the mounting hardware is tightened adequately to prevent movement. If mounting at an elevated height, use appropriate safety equipment and follow local codes and guidelines.
  • Connect the wiring: Run appropriate speaker cables from the audio source or amplifier to the VS6. Observe correct polarity to ensure proper phase alignment with other speakers in the system. Keep wiring neat and insulated, avoiding sharp bends or pinching that could damage the conductor.
  • Test and tune: Power on the system and test the VS6 to confirm sound is reaching the intended area with even coverage. Make orientation adjustments if necessary to optimize dispersion and minimize dead zones. If part of a larger multi-speaker setup, balance levels across the array to maintain consistency in volume and tonal character.

Unreliable and may have NO WARRANTY
Unit has failed. It won't power up. Blinking red light. Called Yamaha and they are verifying the 3prd party through Amazon is a authorized dealer prior to authorizing repair. Less than 2 years old. Home page on Amazon sales screen advertises it comes with a 5 year warranty with registration. How would I know if or if not Amazons vender is a authorized dealer? I'm going to be you know what if they come back and say NO WARRANTY. I will update as the process moves along.

The same convoluted / painful User Experience as existed in the 1980s
I hadn't purchased something like this since college so I assumed it would be a radically different UX (user experience) regarding setup / functionality. Nope. Getting the device to actually play the audio I'm hoping / attempting to play is a constant battle. (Certainly partially due to my incompetence and also the horrible projector software I'm using (BenQ - atrocious software). I'm sure after I've owned the Yamaha for 5-10 years I'll get the hang of it but it would certainly be nice if these incredible systems could communicate w/ one another (i.e. "hey, there's a signal coming in from Device X - I think I'll hide all dormant inputs so it's less confusing..." Annnyway, the sound is absolutely fantastic. I'm thrilled w/ the quality of sound every time we use it. After my anger fades because I just spent 20-30 minutes trying to get sound to output for the movie / game / show we're attempting to watch. Yes, I'm a grumpy old man. You will be too one day.

Mostly Satisfied, but a little let down!
I am upgrading from a Yamaha RXA-870 which is still a great amp and I love it, but wanted the ATMOS with 11.2 surround... The RXA-870 has a far superior Web App to where you can control so much ore. The A8A has a lot of control, but seems to be missing the Web App to better control the Surround Sound, The A8A seems to be more automated... I am also having issues where when I calibrate the speakers it continually gives me a message that there is a wiring problem with my Right Speaker, but nothing is wrong with the Right Speaker... When they say that it take 45 Minutes to update the software... They are not lying.. Downloaded to USB and Updated via USB... and it took 45 Minutes... It was flawless, but not as fast as I was hoping. When they say this unit is heavy... they were being 100% truthful... I had to get a neighbors help to set it on the shelf that I wanted it on.. and if you put it on a shelf... IT HAD BETTER BE HEAVY DUTY! -

Yamaha A8A
I upgraded from a Onkyo 6100 to support 4 atmos in ceiling speakers. This avr has many more options and power to spare. I love the ability to log in the reciever using the IP address to make all my adjustments. I am able to use a laptop at the listening position to fine tune the sound to my taste. The sound quality has a natural feel to it. It is not too bright on or boomy. I would highly recommend this avr. Pros Sound quality Flexible Plenty of power YPAO room correction finally works as it should. Cons It does put off some heat but that is typical with class AB amps.

Great AV Features!
I have always been a Yamaha customer for AV and audio components. I always thought their quality is exceptional for the price of the units. For this AVR I first bought the Marantz SR-7015 and set it up only to find a problem with the audio cutting out randomly. I found there were some review posts about this anomaly. I bought the Marantz because it cost less than the Yamaha RX-A8A with similar features and it was available at a retail store. I returned it and purchased this unit through Amazon. I love it! Easy to setup. The menu system is so much easier than the Marantz. I recommend it for those who want to spend a little more for quality. Note: HDMI CEC is an issue with this unit and others so don't hold it against Yamaha. Streaming systems (like Roku) don't work well because their output is always on and the RX-A8A sees the signal and sometime switches to it automatically when video passthrough is enabled when the system is off. Other devices included. That is I have a Sony Ultra HD BD/DVD player and I needed to turn off HDMI CEC because it would always turn on when I turned on the TV and it was selected as the input. Even though my STB was on and the last input. My STB does not support HDMI CEC so that is why the input switched. Again, not an issue with Yamaha but on the standard.
