Kim Beom | Self Accusation Glossary
1994 | pen on paper | 23 x 30 in (framed)

Kim Beom’s lovely and humorous pen drawing is representative of the celebrated catalogue of the internationally renowned artist. Self Accusation Glossary presents a rare opportunity to add the work of Kim to your collection – an art whose poetry resembles a self deprecation familiar to Winnipeg.

Kim Beom is a South Korean artist whose singular practice defies simple categorization. Working with drawing, painting, video, sculpture, and performance, Kim poetically uncovers and dismantles conventions surrounding pedagogy and education. Further working to question and invert preconceived notions of perspective, Kim often employs animism within his works, collapsing the boundaries of living beings and inanimate objects. Kim’s investigations of socio-political structures are characterized by his idiosyncratic sense of humour and a penchant for the absurd. The artist obtained a BFA and an MFA from Seoul National University, and a second MFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York. His work has been extensively featured in solo exhibitions including The School of Inversion, Hayward Gallery's Project Space, London; Animalia, REDCAT Gallery, Los Angeles; Objects Being Taught They are Nothing but Tools, The Cleveland Museum of Art, Continuing Studies, Plug In ICA, Winnipeg; and the survey exhibition Kim Beom at the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver. In addition, his work has been included in notable international exhibitions including the Istanbul Biennial, the Venice Biennale, and Media City Seoul.

Sharp knives, but some defects
The knives cut well and are generally functional. However, I had some issues with the overall quality. The handle doesn’t feel secure when holding it and arrived slightly peeled, which raises concerns about durability. Additionally, the largest knife arrived with a slightly bent tip, which was disappointing. They work, but the quality control and packaging could definitely be improved. For these reasons, I can’t give a higher rating.

5 Stars - Excellent Quality and Performance! I couldn't be happier with this knife set! Each knife is incredibly sharp right out of the box and cuts through everything with ease—whether it's vegetables, meat, or bread. The handles are comfortable to hold and well-balanced, making food prep a breeze. The design is sleek and looks great in my kitchen. I've used them daily for a few weeks now, and they’re still holding up perfectly. This set offers outstanding quality at a great price. Highly recommended for home cooks and pros alike!

Excellent Knives... Highly Recommended
Color: Black, Color: Black
Great, sturdy knives. They cut amazingly. They have a nice ringing sound when you take them out of block. Block is a nice solid wood. The only negative is that the handles get a residue on them if you wash them in the dishwasher. It does go away, but I strongly recommend handwashing these. I definitely recommend this knife set. Great value for the price.
