The Owl RED is genuinely amazing, a dedicated RED torch with huge output and huge throw, this really is a rare beast.

The OWL RED is our brightest and furthest throwing wildlife photography or animal observation torch. We think the likely person to own one of these runs wildlife tours,  takes wildlife photos with a long lens and wants something which helps their autofocus or possibly going on the trip of a lifetime to Africa and doesn't want to miss anything. Of course, you may just not want to miss any animal at any distance at home!

The OWL RED is the latest in a long line of high output multi LED torches from Wolf Eyes. Unlike many competitors the Owl RED has substantial heatsinking where it is needed. This isn't one of those torches which gives 10,000 lumens for 1 minute then drops the power back (and the throw!), this sustains what it says on the tin for the duration. You can see the gold heatsink right there in the photo, this keeps the LED running at optimum temperature and not overheating.

The Owl has a beautifully even flood of light at all distances and a beautiful spot from 5 metres out. Below 5 metres you can just make out the three circles of light making the beam.. There are not many torches with tonnes of light which have a perfect beam from flood to spot - then maintain that from start to finish, unlike some of these 30 second wonders. I am not sure if any in RED besides the OWL RED. All the while due to intelligent heatsinking the size is kept very reasonable for a large output multi LED torch

Light Output and Beam Pattern
Amazingly the three LEDs in their reflectors combine to give a very even beam of spot which can be adjusted out flood. There is a lot of light in both spot and flood, all extremely even and clear.

Construction
The 3 LEDs are mounted to a solid metal base which is screwed into the body to enable a good thermal connection to wick heat damaging away from the LEDs, important to ensure a long life for your torch. The 26.5mm body rests easy in the hand and makes this torch a pleasure to use. 

Tailcap - Procap
The Wolf Eyes Owl uses our Procap  tailcap which gives four levels of output and two strobes, an emergency strobe which is relatively slow and a fast disorientating strobe – combined with the brightness of this unit it is quite something.  You can turn the torch on in any mode, eg start in low, high or similar. 

Regulation
An LED torch such as the Owl needs to be regulated and in this case certainly is. Regulation means we regulate the amount of current reaching the LEDs to be the absolute optimum, not too much (which will overheat the LEDs and permanently damage them) but also no too little such as when the voltage reduces as the battery flattens. To solve this problem we increase the amperage as the battery flattens, so your LED flashlight has a consistent brightness.

Rechargeable Batteries
The Wolf Eyes Owl torch uses the new LRB217 lithium ion battery. This is new and bigger with higher capacity with higher instantaneous discharge than our standard LRB168 (18650) batteries. These batteries are fully protected for your safety.

Australian Approved Charger
USB rechargeable via USB-C port. The charger supplied with your Wolf Eyes Owl flashlight is Australian Approved, this means you are safer when using it and that all your insurances will apply.

Mounts for Photography Use

If you use your red torch for photographing birds or animals (which works well, the autofocus on your lens can see the red light)  we have two mounts, our standard camera mount and our large camera mount for extra reach to get around large prime long lenses.

The below specifications list a lumens output for RED, be aware that colours don't register well on the lumens scale, by comparison the same OWL torch in white registers 2,628 lumens in the same test.
