A prominent French writer delves into his own history in this eloquent reflection on dysfunctional family relationships.
Hervé Le Tellier did not consider himself to have been an unhappy child—he was not deprived, or beaten, or abused. And yet he understood from a young age that something was wrong, and longed to leave. Children sometimes have only the option of escaping, driven by their even greater love of life.
Having reached a certain emotional distance at sixty years old, and with his father and stepfather dead and his mother suffering from late-stage Alzheimer’s disease, Le Tellier finally felt able to write the story of his family. Abandoned early by his father and raised in part by his grandparents, he was profoundly affected by his relationship with his mother, a troubled woman with damaging views on love.
In this perceptive, deeply personal account, Le Tellier attempts to look back on trying times without anger or regret, and sometimes even with humor.

Not the best
Size: 7, Color: Black, Size: 7, Color: Black
They are cute but they have a bit of an odd fit that isn’t great for people with narrow feet. They look too dressy to wear with super casual outfits in my opinion. I think the Ugg golden star sandals are much comfier. If you’re wearing these sandals for a really short time they’d be okay. After wearing them around my house for a little while I decided to return them since they started to hurt my feet.

Not for narrow feet, very lightweight.
Size: 7.5, Color: Black
My feet are slightly narrow; these were not adjustable enough to make secure. Otherwise they are cute. The material feels kind of light, these were my first attempt at UGGs so I'm not sure if that's typical or an actual quality issue. Either way, they don't seem very durable but I can't imagine these are meant for roughing it.

Nice so far.
Size: 6.5, Color: Molasses
Comfy. They were tight the first day across the toes but as I've worn them a couple times they are loosening up. The sole is forming to my foot. These are very much like Doc Martin's from the early 2000s. Not sure about quality since I haven't had them for very long.
