I love the idea of a social watering hole. This concept has remained strong throughout my decades as an artist. In my early visits to New York, this translated mostly as sketching the many characters that frequented the bar scenes both day and night. As a newcomer to the city, it felt so uniquely colorful and cosmopolitan. I fell in love all over again with the city whenever I painted its people.
