Gorgeous vintage Portuguese topaz, rose gold and silver marcasite brooch from the 1980's. A beautiful yellow faceted oval topaz is set in the center with a rose gold border, with around an entrelac open silver and marcasite design.
This brooch has a the Portuguese eagle head mark and 835 at the back. 835 is one of several European silver jewelry markings; it denotes 83.5% silver and 16.5% copper. The second mark is the jeweler's mark but it is impossible to read. Portuguese hallmarks usually have the first letter of the town where it was made. 
It is in excellent vintage condition.
