This Allied Telesis UMC2000/SC-901 Transceiver/Media Converter is a versatile, enterprise-grade device designed to bridge fiber optic and copper Ethernet networks with minimal effort and maximum reliability. Perfect for data centers, campuses, and branch offices, it enables seamless network extension, upgrades existing infrastructure, and reduces the need for large-scale switch replacements. By supporting a fiber-to-Ethernet transition through a single, compact unit, the UMC2000/SC-901 helps IT teams future-proof their LANs while maintaining simple management and robust performance. This description blends common, real-world benefits and features associated with Allied Telesis media converters and transceivers to provide an SEO-friendly overview that highlights use cases, durability, and value for money.

  • High-performance media conversion for reliable network extension: The UMC2000/SC-901 connects SC fiber optic interfaces to copper Ethernet ports, enabling you to extend your LAN across longer distances without replacing core switches. This transceiver/media converter supports auto-negotiation and standard Ethernet speeds, delivering seamless, plug-and-play operation that minimizes downtime and simplifies deployment in both rack-mount and desktop environments. It is ideal for data centers seeking to maximize fiber infrastructure investments while maintaining compatibility with existing copper-based devices.
  • Easy deployment and flexible integration: Designed for quick setup, this unit offers a compact footprint and straightforward installation in a 19-inch rack or on a workstation. Auto-MDI/MDIX eliminates the need to worry about cable orientation, and LED indicators give you an at-a-glance view of link status, activity, and power. The UMC2000/SC-901 integrates smoothly with Allied Telesis management ecosystems, enabling centralized monitoring and straightforward configuration in multi-device deployments across campuses and offices.
  • Designed for enterprise reliability and performance: Built to withstand demanding environments, the UMC2000/SC-901 prioritizes stable operation and long-term availability. The device is engineered with robust components and protective features to support 24/7 operation in data centers, network closets, and edge locations. Its dependable throughput and consistent behavior make it a trusted solution for interconnecting fiber networks with existing copper-based infrastructure, reducing the risk of bottlenecks or compatibility issues during network upgrades.
  • Security, management, and interoperability: The transceiver/media converter supports standard networking practices and integrates with Allied Telesis management tools for visibility and control across devices. By enabling fiber connectivity to reach copper-equipped endpoints, it helps organizations enforce security policies, segment networks, and maintain consistent performance without requiring wholesale changes to core switches. Its interoperability with diverse networking gear helps IT teams implement scalable, future-ready architectures without vendor lock-in.
  • Cost-effective scalability and investment protection: Investing in a media converter like the UMC2000/SC-901 unlocks greater flexibility for network growth. It allows longer-distance fiber links and thoughtful layer-2/3 segmentation without expensive hardware refreshes. For organizations planning gradual upgrades, this unit supports phased deployments—extending fiber reach to remote racks or buildings while preserving the existing copper infrastructure—and reduces total cost of ownership over time.

How to install Allied Telesis UMC2000/SC-901 Transceiver/Media Converter

Before installation, ensure compatibility with your network gear and verify that you have the correct SC fiber module for your fiber optical link. Begin by preparing the fiber optic cable and the copper Ethernet cable. Connect the SC fiber optic end to the SC-901 port on the transceiver/media converter, making sure the connector seats securely. Next, attach the RJ-45 Ethernet cable to the copper port and connect the other end to your switch, router, or network device. Apply power to the unit using the appropriate external power supply, and then power on the device. Wait for the LED indicators to reflect a healthy link and active data transmission. If you plan a rack installation, secure the unit in a standard 19-inch rack using appropriate mounting hardware and ensure proper ventilation to sustain performance. Once connected, verify link status using your network management software or the unit’s onboard indicators. For detailed, model-specific installation steps, consult the official Allied Telesis installation guide and the product’s documentation for supported fiber types, wavelengths, and port configurations.

Worx better than expected. Much improved the appearance and texture after washing & drying my 6 sheepskin pelts and three faux sheepskin pelts. There’s always a natural shedding after a cleaning, but this DEFINITELY decreases those incidents I recommend.

POLYESTER?!?!
Color: Ivory, Size: 2' x 3' (Pelt), Color: Ivory, Size: 2' x 3' (Pelt)
POLYESTER?!?! So i just bought several of these. Nice and big and fluffy, looked very clean, very nice. Cats instantly were scared/curious. The back of the skin, the wool, all looked nice, and then I noticed it had a tag on it... The tag says... 100% POLYESTER! What?!?!? This is supposed to be New Zealand Sheep Skin pelt! Shouldnt be any Polyester at all. So, just before I was about to return it, i did a small burn test. I cut off a small bunch of hair and burned it. The fire tried to light but it quickly extinguished itself. And the smell... yes... the smell told me it is REAL WOOL and the fact the fire went out right away also confirms this is not oil based. THIS IS REAL, This is NOT Polyester. I guess also a lot of ppl are returning because of the tag, so these are at a HUGE DISCOUNT!!! BUY THEM UP!!! They also came in vacuum packed bags, looked nice and kept very nice. These are excellent! See my photos, the tag, the burned bunch of hair... fire went out, i tried it three times, fire kept instantly going out... smells organic like animal hair when burned, not like oil/polyester. ENJOY!!! I PAID FOR THESE, I was not given anything here!

Love this product!
Color: Linen, Size: 2' x 3' (Pelt)
This sheepskin elevated a boring leather couch to a luxurious sitting space! I purchased 2, one for each loveseat, as sometimes the leather is a little cold. The sheepskin with a small lumbar pillow and voila! A cozy place everyone gravitates to! The sheepskin is soft and cozy and everyone comments they want one! ha probably will get this as a couple of gifts (for those guests that said they wanted one too)

Perfect sheepskin rug
Color: Ivory, Size: 2'3" x 3'5" (Large Pelt)
This sheepskin rug is fabulous! I have it over my office chair and I LOVE it. It does not shed, it stays in place and fits over the seat and up the entire back of the chair with a bit remaining to hang over the edge. My cat sleeps on it every chance he gets. Great value for the price! Just looking at it brings me joy, such a beautiful sheepskin.

Dog ignores, but I like
Color: Ivory, Size: 2' x 3' (Pelt), Color: Ivory, Size: 2' x 3' (Pelt)
I bought this for my dog, who is old and has creaky joints. My dog prefers to continue resting in uncomfortable places that put my plants in peril. He does not ever recline on this dead sheep and looks at me as though I am the sheep slaughterer. Spouse asked if it came in bigger sizes. Since this is the skin of a dead sheep, it depends on live sheep girth. Anything bigger would likely have to be sewn together from multiple dead sheep. I find the girth of this sheep pelt perfectly acceptable. It is nice and thick and soft and fairly easy to vacuum. I frequently recline on it when stretched out on the floor, and am grateful it does not leave a mess or make noise like my dog, who should be grateful that his pelt is still attached to his body.
