Meet the HP VCX VoIP Gateway, an enterprise‑class bridge designed to deliver reliable, high‑quality voice over IP for HP VCX video collaboration environments. This gateway is engineered to simplify how you connect traditional telephony to modern IP networks, enabling scalable SIP trunking, secure communication, and seamless interoperability with leading PBXs and cloud services. Built for performance, resilience, and easy management, the HP VCX VoIP Gateway helps organisations reduce operating costs while preserving the familiar reliability of established telephony workflows.

  • Seamless interoperability and codec versatility: The HP VCX VoIP Gateway supports common signaling protocols such as SIP and H.323, allowing smooth integration with a wide range of PBXs, hosted UC platforms, and the HP VCX ecosystem. It delivers robust codec support—including G.711 (A-law and μ-law), G.729, and G.722—to balance bandwidth efficiency with audio clarity, ensuring crisp, reliable calls across diverse network conditions.
  • Flexible connectivity and deployment options: Designed to adapt to evolving communications needs, this gateway offers modular port options for analog interfaces (FXO/FXS) and scalable expansion paths. Whether you’re expanding existing IP telephony coverage, connecting legacy devices, or migrating to cloud‑based UC, the HP VCX VoIP Gateway provides flexible density and deployment models to fit your site footprint and growth plans.
  • Security, reliability, and QoS for mission‑critical calls: Protect voice traffic with built‑in security features such as TLS for signaling and SRTP for media encryption. The gateway supports NAT traversal and firewall‑friendly configurations, along with Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms to minimize jitter and packet loss. Built for enterprise use, it helps maintain call quality and privacy even in challenging network environments.
  • Centralized management and streamlined provisioning: Manage the HP VCX VoIP Gateway through a comprehensive web‑based GUI and CLI for advanced configurations. Centralized provisioning and monitoring capabilities align with HP VCX administration tools, enabling bulk deployments, remote troubleshooting, and consistent policy enforcement across multiple sites—reducing administration time and errors.
  • Scalability, cost efficiency, and lifecycle value: The gateway is built to scale with your communications strategy, from smaller branch deployments to larger campus configurations. By consolidating voice traffic with reliable SIP trunking and interoperating with HP VCX services, it helps lower long‑term telephony costs while delivering a durable, long‑life hardware platform designed for steady performance and easier upgrade paths.

Technical Details of HP VCX VoIP Gateway

  • Signaling protocols: SIP and H.323 for broad interoperability with IP‑PBX systems, hosted UC platforms, and video collaboration ecosystems.
  • Media and codecs: Support for G.711 (A‑law and μ‑law), G.729, and G.722 with flexible transcoding options to optimize bandwidth and audio quality.
  • Fax and messaging: T.38 fax relay support to enable reliable fax over IP alongside standard voice calls.
  • Security: TLS for secure signaling, SRTP for encrypted media, VPN options, and firewall/NAT traversal features to protect voice traffic across networks.
  • Management and deployment: Web GUI with CLI access, SNMP monitoring, and remote provisioning to support scalable rollouts and centralized administration.

How to Install HP VCX VoIP Gateway

  • Unbox the HP VCX VoIP Gateway and verify that you have all required accessories, including power supply, Ethernet cables, and any modular interface cards specified for your deployment.
  • Place the gateway in a secure, well‑ventilated location. Mount it in a rack if required by your deployment, or position it on a stable surface near network equipment for short cabling and easier management.
  • Connect network interfaces: attach the gateway’s Ethernet port to your LAN or DMZ as appropriate for your security policy. If you are using analog interfaces, install the required FXO/FXS modules and connect your telephony lines to the corresponding ports.
  • Apply power and obtain an initial IP address through DHCP or your preferred static assignment. Use a PC on the same network to access the web GUI by entering the gateway’s IP address in a browser.
  • Configure signaling and media settings: define SIP or H.323 parameters, specify trunk routes, configure codecs, enable T.38 if needed, and set up TLS/SRTP for security. Import or create user accounts and trunk credentials as required by your PBX or cloud UC service.
  • Integrate with HP VCX ecosystem: connect the gateway to your HP VCX service portal or management console, apply centralized policies, and align routing with your overall collaboration strategy.
  • Test calls thoroughly: place inbound and outbound calls, test Fax if applicable, verify DTMF behavior (RFC2833, In‑band, or SIP INFO), and monitor call quality metrics. Adjust QoS, jitter buffers, and network settings to optimize performance.
  • Document the configuration: save profiles and export settings for quick recovery or future redeployments. Establish a routine for firmware updates and security patches through your management platform.

Mixed results using this auto can opener...
Color: Green
I had high hopes for this can opener, but was let down. This can opener failed me half of the times I tried to use it. For some reason it wouldn't cut through the paper surrounding the cans. I tried it on small, medium and large cans. It worked best on larger cans. I got it because I liked the idea of opening cans without having to contend with the sharp lids that inevitably fall back into the opened cans. It is unsanitary at best and a safety hazard at worst. On the plus side it is rechargeable, so no battery worries there. It fits nicely in the hand for ease of use. It appears to be of sturdy construction, so it's a high quality item. And being small it will store easily. The price is right and it represents a good value for your hard earned dollars.

Hands Free Operation; Safe Cutting
Color: Green
I used to have a manual (as in turn-the-crank) side-cutting can opener really liked it. It eventually wore out and I had relegated myself to the standard hand-crank top-cut version that often left a sharp lid and sometimes a little burr or sharp point where the cut wasn't complete and the you had to the tear/bend the lid off. With this mostly hands-free Side Cut Can Opener, sharp edges will be few, if any. I say "mostly hands-free" because you do have to position the opener on the can and push the button to start it and, when it finishes, you have to push the button again to tell it to stop. On the demo can in my video, the lip was such that the cut was right through that edge such that there were no sharp edges. It is possible that some cans may be designed such that the cutter falls below that rim and cuts the can edge in a way that leaves dull lid but a sharp can. These should be rare, but good to watch out for in case you get one. Always assume edges are sharp until you verify otherwise. You'll note in my video that the lid was a little difficult to remove. Some of that may be learning curve with this new opener, and some it may be that is just how it is! I accept that and choose to move forward using this new, safer can opener. Recommended.

Very dangerous metal shavings!!!
Negative stars if I could. This is a very dangerous product. It worked well for a while. But then it quit effectively removing the lid instead I got little tiny shavings of metal around the edge. These shavings of metal go into the food and very dangerous. So this was a waste of money and incredibly dangerous. I am throwing it in the trash today.

With just the press of a button, it opens cans quickly and smoothly—which is very useful, especially if you prefer not to exert physical force. The design is comfortable to handle and does not take up much space in the kitchen. The battery life is good, and it recharges without any issues. Overall, it is a functional product that makes an everyday chore much easier.
