Sandra Wilsher, along with her colleagues from the Fertility Unit in Cambridge, UK, has refined the standard transcervical transfer method. The process begins with the mare being sedated, followed by a thorough washing and disinfection of the hindquarters. A duck-billed Polansky's speculum is then inserted into the vagina to provide a clear view of the cervix's external os. Utilizing the EQUIVET Cervix Forceps, the cervix is grasped at the ventral quadrant and gently pulled caudally to align the cervical canal. An insemination pipette, covered with a disposable plastic sheath, is employed to transfer the embryo. This approach effectively keeps the embryo isolated from the natural bacteria present in the vulva and vagina, thereby minimizing the risk of contamination. Additionally, it enhances the success rate for veterinarians who may not frequently conduct embryo transfers.

This forceps features an upgraded handle design that makes it easier to control the opening and closing movements.
