Schinus molle is a quick growing evergreen tree that grows up to 15 meters tall and wide. It is the largest of all Schinus species and potentially the longest lived. The upper branches of the tree tend to droop. Schinus Molle is native to an area from the Peruvian Andes to southern Brazil. The bright pink fruits of Schinus molle are often sold as "pink peppercorns" although S. molle is unrelated to black pepper.
The peppercorn prefers rich, well-drained moist soils in an open, sunny position. It is drought resistant but frost tender. The stem is erect and twisted, with rough, blackish bark The Pepper Tree is easy to care for and makes an ideal bonsai for beginners.
It is important to create the weeping effect as soon as the main trunk has been established.
Germination Tip:
After soaking the seed overnight and the seed has not softened or swelled, you will need to scarify the seed coat. Scarifying is the process of weakening the seed coat, so that water and oxygen can enter the seed, in turn, kick starting germination. Seeds will remain dormant if not exposed to these elements
Scarifying can be achieved by gently rubbing the seed coat with sandpaper, you do not need to rub off the entire coating, just enough for water to enter.
NB: Only scarify the seed coat, do not damage the internal parts of the seed.
Once Scarifying has been done. submerge the seed again as per instructions
