The fragrance is full of adventure and freedom, that reveals refined masculinity, presence and charisma by narrating a journey around the world. An ode to the blue of nature, Montblanc Explorer Ultra Blue celebrates the Maison’s  connection with nature, and the distinctive citrus, woody and marine notes of the fragrance reflect it. Three world travellers and exceptionally talented noses – Givaudan’s Jordi Fernandez , Olivier Pescheux, and Antoine Maisondieu - have come together to develop an original scent fit for today’s explorer, one that awakens a desire to discover nature’s palette of blues: sky, lakes and mountains.

The top notes of Montblanc Explorer Ultra Blue can be described as a luminous and zesty fusion of Italian bergamot and citrus of the finest quality, with the addition of a touch of pink peppercorn to deliver a fresh spicy note with woody facets reminiscent of pepper and elemi.


Marine accord is the beating heart of the fragrance. The blue aquatic depth that comes from fusing citrus with the marine and airy notes evokes the freshness of Alpine landscapes, with the subtle hint of a sea breeze. The fresh, iodine, watery, salty and airy notes contrast with grey amber notes.

One final stop on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia delivers the base notes that define the structure of Montblanc Explorer Ultra Blue. A singular patchouli of the finest quality has been exclusively crafted for Montblanc. Cleared from the usual dark earth facets it naturally comes with, this patchouli is then masterfully combined with refined woods giving it an earthy and rich base, with leathery facets.

Was I Ever Proved Wrong

I'll admit it — going in, I was skeptical. How could normal-speed villains possibly threaten someone like Wally West, a teenager gifted with powers that let him run at supersonic, even near-light speeds? How could Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, or the Trickster be anything more than a brief blur in his rearview mirror? But Absolute Flash #1 masterfully convinced me. This issue doesn’t just showcase raw speed; it explores naïveté, inexperience, and the hidden mental limits that come with sudden, godlike power. Wally, only 15, isn’t just fighting external foes — he’s grappling with his own inexperience with the Speed Force. The creative team understands that raw velocity without control or understanding is a recipe for chaos, not invincibility. What really impressed me is how the narrative balances the fantastical with the believable. We watch Wally fumble through situations where, logically, he should dominate, but his youth, overconfidence, or lack of finesse opens the door for “normal” villains to challenge him. It’s not just a fight of feet — it’s a fight of wits, adaptation, and personal growth. Good Start for X-men from the Ashes

The art is different than previous issues and takes a little getting used to, but overall above par. With comics, it’s always about the art first, the writing second. The dialogue pops for the most part. And the characters make sense. I rather like the scenes between Cyke and Logan, Hank and Cyke, and Magneto. Also it makes sense that after being tortured and put through hell - Cyclops would retreat to his birthplace, Alaska, and take the mutants who can’t blend in with humans, or are ostracized with him. The team up works for me - we have people who are deadly, former assassins and villains, which again works well with Cyclops, a character who believes in second chances. Only quibble - is the villains feel kind of stale? I was never a fan of the U-Men. But I’ll give it a chance, the rest is working for me so far.

I really enjoyed this first issue. The team's dynamics seem to be getting a lot of focus which I like. And the action jumps out of the page. The character designs will take some getting used to but the art is honestly fantastic. Most enjoyable part to me was the team actually feeling like a team, with lots of small interplays and Cyclops really feeling like the leader he should be. I'm not sure I like Orchis as the villains again but we'll see how it goes.
