The Allied Telesis Converteon AT-CM3K0S Gigabit Ethernet Rate Converter Line Card is a purpose-built module designed to bridge copper and fiber networks within a Converteon-enabled chassis. This compact, high-availability card combines a flexible copper 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 interface with an optical SFP slot, enabling seamless rate conversion and scalable connectivity for modern data centers, campuses, and enterprise networks. With a copper link that reaches up to 100 meters and a configurable fiber path via the SFP interface, the AT-CM3K0S helps you extend the life of existing copper investments while unlocking the performance and reach of your fiber deployments. Built for reliability, these line cards integrate tightly with Allied Telesis’ management, monitoring, and security features, delivering a unified solution for network modernization without forklift upgrades.

  • Flexible copper-to-fiber connectivity: The AT-CM3K0S serves as a robust rate converter, letting you connect legacy or current copper devices to fiber infrastructure without replacing your entire network. This capability is ideal for data centers expanding capacity, enterprises migrating to high-speed fiber backbones, or campuses linking dispersed locations while preserving your existing copper assets.
  • Single copper port with universal speed support: The 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 port negotiates automatically to the highest common speed, offering compatibility with Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet devices. This ensures smooth integration with a wide range of devices—from legacy printers and IP cameras to high-performance servers and storage systems.
  • Optical SFP slot for scalable fiber connectivity: An integrated SFP slot provides a flexible, future-proof fiber interface. By inserting a compatible SFP transceiver, you can tailor the link to your preferred fiber type and distance, enabling uplinks, server-to-storage connections, or campus links with scalable bandwidth options above copper limits.
  • Distance and reliability: The copper path supports up to 100 meters, enabling reliable campus and office-floor deployments without running afield. The modular line-card design also supports redundant power and hot-swappable operation within compatible chassis, delivering steady service levels for demanding workloads.
  • Designed for Converteon chassis: As a genuine Converteon line card, AT-CM3K0S integrates with Allied Telesis’ modular rate-conversion ecosystem. It offers a compact, card-based upgrade path that reduces downtime, simplifies maintenance, and fits neatly into standard rack configurations with other Converteon modules.

how to install Allied Telesis Converteon AT-CM3K0S

To install the AT-CM3K0S, begin by preparing a compatible Allied Telesis Converteon chassis. Ensure you have steady power and that the chassis is powered down before beginning the installation to protect the module and other components. Open the chassis access panel, locate an available expansion slot, and align the AT-CM3K0S with the slot guides. Gently but firmly press the line card into the slot until it seats fully, then secure it with the retention mechanism or screws provided by the chassis design. Once seated, replace the chassis cover and power on the unit. Confirm that the card reports as active in the management interface and that the copper link is up if a device is connected to the RJ-45 port. For fiber, insert a compatible SFP transceiver into the SFP slot and connect the fiber optic cable to the transceiver, ensuring the fiber is terminated correctly and the polarity is respected. Access the Converteon management console to configure the copper port speed and duplex settings, as well as any VLAN or QoS policies required for your deployment. If you are migrating workloads or expanding capacity, verify that the SFP link aligns with your fiber path and that end devices are configured accordingly. Documentation from Allied Telesis provides recommended best practices for switchport configurations, error handling, and monitoring thresholds to maintain optimal performance in shared environments.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What is the primary function of the AT-CM3K0S? A: It serves as a Gigabit Ethernet rate converter line card that provides a copper RJ-45 connection with an SFP slot to bridge copper and fiber networks within Allied Telesis Converteon chassis, enabling flexible network upgrades and scalable connectivity.
  • Q: What distances can the copper port cover? A: The copper 10/100/1000BASE-T port supports up to 100 meters on standard copper cabling, making it suitable for typical office and data-center edge deployments.
  • Q: Do I need a separate transceiver? A: Yes, the SFP slot requires a compatible SFP transceiver to establish a fiber link; choose transceivers based on desired fiber type and distance.
  • Q: Which chassis is compatible? A: The AT-CM3K0S is designed for Allied Telesis Converteon line and should be used within compatible Converteon chassis models as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Q: Can this card be hot-swapped? A: In typical configurations, Converteon line cards are designed for hot-swapping within the chassis slots, though you should follow your specific chassis guidelines and perform a safe removal and replacement procedure as described in the manual.
  • Q: How does this card benefit network architecture? A: By enabling copper-to-fiber bridging, the AT-CM3K0S helps consolidate network upgrades, extend reach to remote sites, improve backbone capacity, and simplify management through a unified Converteon ecosystem.

Great not only for TV Backlighting, but shelf lighting too!
Color: Black, Color: Black
Right off the bat, these light bars are vibrant, colorful, and have a great variety of different colors and patterns. However, I used them for a little bit of a different purpose than what they were created for... I had previously purchased the TV backlight strips from Govee, and wanted to find lighting for my shelves within the Govee ecosystem. Traditional light strips wouldn't really work unless I spliced them, which I wanted to avoid. Enter these light bars. I bought 2 sets of them, and thanks to the (quite strong) mounting options, was able to mount and angle these lights downwards to create a really cool effect over my displays. I wasn't sure how well it was going to work, but the end results speak for themselves. It looks terrific when used in this role. The cables are very long and manageable too, I was able to run them down the support beams of the shelves with some mounting clips without issue. The only negative comes down to the app itself. It's a bit overwhelming and confusing to use at first, but once you get the basic functions figured out, there's little issue. Still, I feel the user experience could be improved on the app. For example, I had to go in and create my own shortcut function to turn on all my lights at once, then make a separate one to turn them all off at once, as opposed to there being a single master on/off button in the app. It's small things that can make the app tedious to work with. Regardless, I feel that overall Govee continuous to knock it out of the park. The lights are bright, customizable, and add a ton of ambience to the room. I hope Govee continues to expand on their different room lighting options and keep the level of quality they are putting out now.
