My personal opinion: I have read a lot about Berkey. The good and the bad. We all want safe water systems that are at an affordable price. I chose my Berkey system originally because it was kind of a middle ground price between having a water pitcher or a whole house filtration system. Of course we would all love a whole house filtration system & it's not always in the budget. I feel Berkey is a great in-between and not only do they last for a LONG time, you can always use them in an emergency situation. I have actually had to use ours when we ran out of water and it was great to have safe drinking water.
I don't use their filters but I do love their gravity system! We have had ours for probably 5 years now. I highly recommend the bigger the better (depending on your family). Whichever gravity filter you choose, you will have to refill it. I have the Royal Berkey and we're a family of 4. I like that they have bigger sizes. It's easier to fill a bigger one less times, in my opinion. The smaller ones are better for travel.
