Brand new Concave bead range by Kaiko Fidgets.  As the name says, the bead hasa concave surface, functioning a little like a rubbing stone surface.  The weighted stainless steel beads roll between fingers beautifully. Many rub the cord also. This fidget is super soft in effect.

It is particularly great for those that stim with fabric, Blu-Tac rollers or like low sensory input as it glides between the fingers & is very calming. It is small, discreet and quiet. Given it is a quiet fidget, it makes it ideal for the workplace, travel or the classroom.

Many convert this to a fidget worn on wrist - Tie end, put over wrist and drape into hand,

Not suitable for 3 and under as beads can pose a choking risk

n.b. The antennae needs to pulled every so often to keep knots tight.  Please note they are made using cord that can frey over time due to friction.  This is wear and tear and cannot be avoided.  The time this takes to occur can depend on how the fidget is used.

These have been effective for those who

  • hair twirl or pull
  • stim with fabric
  • roll  Blu-Tac
  • love 'soft' sensory input
  • also wonderful for decreasing agitation & worry for example for those with dementia

Materials:   Beads : Food Grade 304 stainless steel & cord polyester

Bead width approx 8 x 10mm

Weight Approx: 15g

Not suitable for children under three years old due to small parts and choking risk.

Keeping the fidgets sanitised. - They are fine to wipe , ours regularly go through washing machine, the trick is to wipe excess moisture off them. If left wet/damp (eg in washing machine lol) they can rust in appearance a little but generally does not affect function. wiping with an antibacterial wipe or damp cloth then drying off thoroughly is the key.

    A great collection of poetry.
    Format: Paperback
I first "discovered" Stevens from selections of some of his work being a part of this work on poetics I have. The quotes are, I suppose, for the oddity of discovering an artist that is more well known than I'll ever be. Great book to have if you're interested in how poetry made its move from constrained to open.

Stevens wrote, "She sang beyond the genius of the sea." He did the same.
    Format: Kindle
Thank you to the publisher for an ebook copy of Stevens' work. My ancient paperback copy is now retired. As for the poetry: my respectful suggestion is to read it and not feel obliged to understand it. Reading a poem isn't a contest you have to win. Let the music of the words wash over you. Float. You don't have to bring anything to this party except your willingness to be surprised, the way you're sometimes surprised, on waking, by a dream you had. Happy reading, whatever you choose to read.

Corrected and cleaned up, Stevens shines
    Format: Paperback
The corrections to the text of the 1954 Collected Poems are worth paying for, but the attractive, highly readable typeface and layout make this collection pleasantly readable as well as compelling. Stevens is one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century, and in his corporate pin-stripe portliness he is also an inspiration to all of us basically nerdy, tweedy, non-Beat types who hope we possess a tiny spark of poetic genius. Romantic and post-romantic poetry is an argument between imagination and reality, and no one clarifies the terms of that argument better than Stevens.

    Linus's blue blanket
    Format: Hardcover
Even though I'm reading the hardcover, I wrap the wonderful, wise words of W.S. Merwin around me. His poems infuse my life with an even keener sense of appreciating the "now." His words keep me in constant contact with my sense of responsibility for our planet. He's an inspiration for taking action to preserve, conserve, and plant trees, as well as recognizing the magnitude of the impact that each being carries. The geese, all animals, relationships, taking better care of the earth and each other, as well as experiencing the sorrows and the joys in life. He is dedicated to the craft of poetry and its vital role of importance in our lives. I wish I could thank him in person, but since that's not realistic, I will continue to do my best to honor him in my own way, by taking time to observe, experience, appreciate, write, take action, and reflect upon the beauty in the world and making the most of each moment. Carpe Diem!
