how to install HPE Enlogic by nVent G3 Basic 1-phase 4.9kVA/L6-30P 24A/200-240V PDU

  • Prepare and safety check: Before installing, verify that power is turned off at the circuit breaker and that the rack is properly grounded. Collect required tools and confirm that the PDU’s voltage rating (200-240V) matches your facility power rails. Inspect the PDU for any shipping damage and ensure all mounting hardware is present.

  • Mount the PDU in the rack: Secure the PDU in the appropriate rack unit, ensuring it is level and stable. Align mounting ears with rack rails and tighten fasteners to prevent movement during operation. Consider cable management options to keep inputs and outputs organized and to reduce strain on connectors.

  • Connect the input power: Connect the L6-30P input plug to the corresponding 200-240V power source or circuit. Use a properly rated breaker and conductors, and confirm the connection is solid and free from corrosion. Do not exceed the recommended amperage to maintain safe and reliable operation.

  • Connect IT devices and organize outputs: Attach IT equipment to the PDU’s receptacles, labeling circuits as needed for clear identification. Route cables neatly to facilitate airflow and future maintenance. After all connections are made, perform a final check to ensure all devices are powered correctly and that there are no loose wires or signs of overheating.

Frequently asked questions

  • What does 4.9kVA mean for this PDU? The 4.9kVA rating indicates the maximum apparent power the PDU can deliver to connected devices. It is a measure of capacity that helps you plan how many servers, storage units, and networking gear can be powered without overloading circuits. In practical terms, it supports multiple devices in a typical rack while providing headroom for power spikes and expansion.

  • What is the significance of L6-30P in the PDU? The L6-30P is a locking NEMA 14-30 style connector used for high-current, 200-240V single-phase power. It provides a secure connection to the facility power supply, reducing the risk of accidental disconnections and ensuring stable power delivery to the PDU and, by extension, to connected equipment.

  • Is there a warranty for the PDU? Yes. The HPE Enlogic by nVent G3 Basic PDU is backed by a 5-year manufacturer warranty, reflecting the manufacturer’s confidence in the unit’s build quality, performance, and long-term reliability. This warranty offers protection and support throughout the product’s lifecycle.

  • Is this PDU compatible with non-HPE equipment? The PDU is designed for use in HPE Enlogic environments and data center deployments. While it can power a wide range of IT devices that operate within 200-240V, you should ensure your equipment’s power requirements and plug types align with the PDU’s specifications for safe and reliable operation.

Worst Experience of my Life
My Epson printer had problems with it's software in early mid April, while trying to resolve the software glitch which I could not, I found that every picture I had scanned for some time had lines running through it and no cleaning process or other process that Epson had would get rid of it, and everything I had scanned for my project, was ruined. I sent the machine to Asurion following their instructions and explaining the issues. They sent it back to me after a month saying they had double checked and fixed everything, I spent some time setting it all back up, only to find that exactly the same two issues were still present and the machine was unusable. I sent in a second request, this time they sent it back to me a month later saying they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Hooked it up again, same problem. I complained numerous times asked for them to warranty the item; they would not unless I sent it back to them and they kept it and then they would give me a credit on my amazon account to buy a new one. I packed it up and drove to UPS a third time and mailed it back to them, after about three weeks they sent me a note that they had it and that they were sending it back to me as they couldn't find anything wrong. Three times I ha filled out their entire sheet with product, date of purchase, problems detailed, receipts, picture of the lines in the photos that it was making over all the scanned photos. Then after two weeks of back and forth they sent me a message telling me they couldn't warranty it until I filled all this information out again on line. Then they told me they couldn't read the tiny print off the receipt printed off the Amazon site, which I cannot change. I then blew up the receipts and circled everything and sent it back to them again...of course they already had now five copies of this same information, they had paid for postage three times to NY and back to fix it and they still aren't able to process a payment to me????? Finally I get a call from a gentleman telling me that I will have a credit to my Amazon Card in 72 hours. Great. Then he calls me back the next day and says the warranty team has decided they would not warranty the item and credit me but they will mail me a check in 7 to 10 days. After over four months of this I received a check...will it bounce? I don't know yet. My project that I was working on was for my mother's Celebration of Life, I could not do what I wanted to do for her, this caused me emotional pain, as well as the obvious frustration of four months of aggravation and complete and total ineptitude on their part.

Quick and Fantastic Service!
I include the additional protection for all of my high dollar purchases. This was the first time I have ever had to use it. I had an extension to provide additional screens to my laptop. Unfortunately, it developed an issue. Submitting a claim was easy and straightforward. UPS came the next day to pick it up and I was notified in just a couple of days that it was received. Only a couple of days after that, I received an email stating that my laptop screens were not repairable and I was given an Amazon card for the entire purchase price. I could not have been more pleased, as the purchase price was $599 and was a huge splurge for me in the first place. I was able to quickly replace the screens and back in business in no time. I would recommend this protection plan for any high dollar purchase.
