10" version. Automatic City present One Batch Of Blues, a release of blues covers. Engines on. "Commit a Crime", percussion kicks in; pulses and beats issue from various instruments and objects of everyday life; cardboard, cans and bottles echo in the tape machine. Guitar riffs roar, moan and slide, saturating the old tweed amplifier's small speaker. Singing, always soulful, swings between highs and lows, changing moods and modes, to the backbeat of an ever pounding double bass and the raw strums of acoustic guitar. Recorded in simple live takes with a handful of microphones, Automatic City stay true to the founding fathers, to the roots of blues, the raw energy of a stripped down spontaneous sound, occasionally whisking them away on further musical explorations. An eclecticism which emerges on "God Moves On The Water" bringing in sounds of Theremin, sitar, berimbau and melodica. There once were giants, by the names of Willie Dixon, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters and Blind Willie Johnson. They sang stories about lost and found loves, all-night balls, cunning escapes and fateful encounters, churches and boozers, humanity sailing forth on a doomed ship. "People had to run and pray" though sometimes whiskey and women wouldn't let the old boys do so, but all the folks surely want them to play. All night long! Features songs written by: Chester Burnett, McKinley Morganfield, Blind Willie Johnson, Willie Dixon, Elmore James, Fred McDowell/Gary Harding Davis.

As good As It Get
Format: Kindle
I read the second book in this cottage series about smart town/village life in the Cotswolds before this first one. Both are so very very good and touching. Can't wait to read the third one in this series. These sapphic HEA romances are as good as it gets.

Sweet, Escapist, and Good Characters
Format: Kindle
I enjoyed the setting of this book. I love a book with a good sense of place. The chemistry between the characters was good and built through the story, I thought the book could have benefited from heavier editing. I appreciated the good dialogue, but it seemed unnecessarily copious at times, putting a drag on the forward motion of the story. Worth my time - absolutely.

Bravo!
Format: Kindle
"For two people who love words, we f***ing suck at communication." These words, uttered near the end of the book, really describe the relationship between Josie and Harriett (Harry). They have both built their careers on the crafting of words, but when it comes to them communicating with each other, there are many misunderstandings, foot-in-mouth moments, and missed opportunities to say how they feel. That, along with each one's hesitation to make the first move, causes the sexual tension to build and build, so when they finally do get together... well, you don't want to miss that! The contrast of Josie, the American, and Harry, the Brit, is fun. The story is heart-warming. The banter is enjoyable and doesn't seem like it's just filling space in the book. The supporting characters are colorful and have depth. I really enjoyed it, so I say, "Bravo, TB Markinson! A standing ovation from me!"

Great series!
Format: Kindle
I absolutely loved this entire series. All of the stories were lovely & very "real". I have read several books by all of these authors but none have been quite like these three. There was an extra sentiment of sunny & joy in these books. I don't know if it was the setting (the Cotwolds are such a delight) or they were all just "in the zone" but it was a delightful experience. Highly recommend!!
