LP version. Nine months since the release of 6 Lenins (TR 432CD/LP, 2019), The Proper Ornaments are back with Mission Bells, a somber but uplifting record that began it's life while they were on tour earlier in 2019, when new ideas emerged in different soundchecks around Europe. James Hoare, Bobby Syme, and Max Oscarnold, the founders of the group, recruited Nathalie Bruno as a bassist for the tour, and then the four-piece began recording in the summer at Hoare's home studio in Finsbury Park, London, using the same 16-track Studer tape machine as on their previous record, but this time they incorporated a Moog sequencer and other electronics instruments. On these recordings, meticulous attention to detail is never deployed as an end in itself but always with the song and sound in mind. As the Mission Bells sing, echoes of black albums Velvets, Swell Maps, Spiritualized, and Cluster might reach inside your brain, but the truth is that it's hard to pinpoint influences on an album that is the fifth in the life of this band, as they have been becoming more and more themselves, not needing to look elsewhere for inspiration. This is not a retro band, they just happened to like playing guitar, a preference that began, at least for James Hoare and Max Oscarnold, when they were nine years old. Whoever is familiar with their previous records might agree that Mission Bells has a lot of the innocent elements (drum machines underneath simple songs) of their first record, Waiting For The Summer (2013), the melancholy of Foxhole (2017), and their heavy live sounds, as drummer Bobby Syme points out. But it's the lyrical maturity that is the real achievement on this record. The words can be read as a William Burroughs cut-up experiment on what it is to live in these dystopian times. Mission Bells is a majestic achievement, a musical maelstrom, it's harmonies drawing the inclined listener into an irreversible somnambulant state, caught between dreamland and waking hours. The beauty of it is, you won't want to escape, even though the door is flung open as your postmodern life awaits you outside

Overpriced for a cheaply made shirt. The hems are glued down, not sewn.
Color: Grey/Black Square, Size: XX-Large, Color: Grey/Black Square, Size: XX-Large
I'm not sure how well this shirt is going to hold up, but I'll give them it's lightweight and cool! LOL There's almost nothing to it, it's so light. Mrs Aloha Friday is really crafty, but doesn't do much sewing. It's like she made this shirt with those tapes that you use to hold a hem temporarily, with an iron. LOL She's now got the idea she can make me shirts herself by just gluing them together! ;o) Neither of us is sure how well this will hold up to multiple washes. I'll edit my review if it falls apart. I think the price is nuts for what you get, at $27 as of this writing. There are literally holes in the shirt! I'd feel better recommending it at around $10. If you need something lightweight, yet still an actual shirt, here ya go. The problem is, I'll need to wear an undershirt under this or I'll just sweat right through it in the heat, and it will show the texture of everything it rests against, like the hairs on my chest. Or worse, they'll poke through the holes! Gah!! LOL So sorry for that imagery. I got the Grey/Black square.

Esabel.C Mens Mesh Polo Shirt Moisture Wicking Short Sleeve
Color: Lightblue Rhombus, Size: Large
This is the Esabel.C Mens Golf Polo Shirt. It's moisture wicking works out great. I wear it quite often golfing. Very comfortable and light weight. The color I got was the Lightblue Rhombus. They have 6 different ones to choose from. And the price is not bad either. As far as the size goes, I went by their chart, which was large, and it fits very well. I've had no problems with it. Like I said, I wear it very often.

One of my favorite golf shirts
Color: Lightblue Four Dots, Size: Large
I ordered this golf shirt and it's becoming one of my favorites. I'm a medium build 6'3", 42" chest and the large fits me very well with plenty of room for movement but a nice trim look. The lightweight material is soft and breathable, with a small bit of stretch. It's easy to care for with machine wash and dry, and comes out wrinkle-free. This shirt is very well made and is a good value - I highly recommend it.

Lightweight, Breathable Polo Perfect for Hot Weather Gol
Color: Blue/White Square, Size: Medium, Color: Blue/White Square, Size: Medium
For reference, I’m 5'10" and 170 lbs and ordered a size Medium, which fits true to size. The shirt is probably designed with tucking in mind, as it runs a little longer than some casual polos. That said, it still looks perfectly fine worn untucked if that’s your preference. The mesh material is lightweight and very breathable, which makes it ideal for hot Southern California golf days. It does a great job keeping you cool even when you’re out on the course for several hours. Another thing I like is the amount of stretch in the fabric. It allows plenty of freedom during the golf swing without feeling tight or restrictive, while still maintaining a clean fit that doesn’t look baggy. The pattern is nicely done, with subtle colors that look good without being overly loud. It has just enough style to stand out a bit without feeling flashy. The collar holds its shape well, which helps the shirt look a little more polished. It’s stiff enough to stay looking sharp and it washes well without losing its structure. Overall, this is a comfortable, lightweight polo that performs well in warm weather and looks good on and off the course. A solid choice if you’re looking for a breathable golf shirt with a good fit and plenty of stretch.
