Why is the key lock a decisive advantage?

In the world of watch storage boxes, the overwhelming majority of products offer a simple glass lid with a free hinge without any locking system. These boxes fulfill their role of presentation and dust protection, but they offer no physical security: anyone passing by can lift the lid and freely access the watches. For a collector whose collection has significant value, this lack of locking quickly becomes problematic.

The Luxuria Temporum addresses this need with an integrated key lock that transforms the display box into a secure case. This is a rare distinction in the category — halfway between a simple decorative box (without a lock) and a professional watch safe (bulky and expensive). The traditional physical key also has an advantage over electronic systems (fingerprint, keypad): it does not depend on a battery or a biometric sensor, works indefinitely without maintenance, and can be kept separately in a safe place (locked drawer, main safe, bank). For everyday domestic use with a reasonable level of security, this is the most reliable and timeless solution.

THE LUXURIA TEMPORUM SPIRIT: THE TEMPORAL LUXURY OF JEWELRY CASES
The name Luxuria Temporum ("luxury of time" in Latin) conveys the intention of this box: to preserve the precious time embodied by mechanical watches in a case worthy of their status. Where the Ordo Tempus claimed the industrial rigor of aluminum, the Luxuria Temporum draws from the tradition of classic jewelry cases — those boxes of precious varnished wood found in the great houses of Place Vendôme, among watch antiquarians, and in the cabinets of heritage collectors. Its grained mahogany brown lacquered finish recalls the Restoration writing desks of the 19th century and the Napoleonic ceremonial boxes. The polished metal circles around each slot constitute a goldsmith's signature reminiscent of the cases from the Imperial Manufacture de Sèvres or the displays from Baccarat Crystalworks. It is an object aimed at the heritage collector who appreciates traditional luxury as opposed to contemporary industrial. Particularly suitable for a cozy library, a classic executive office, a collector's cabinet, or a characterful living room.

How to use the Luxuria Temporum

1
Capacity selection. Choose the configuration according to your collection: 2 compact slots for beginners, 3 or 6 linear slots for an elegant horizontal presentation, 4 square slots for versatility, 9 slots for heritage collectors. Allow 1 to 2 additional slots for future expansions.
2
Installation. Place the Luxuria Temporum on a stable flat surface — dresser, desk, shelf, or in a display case. The lacquered wood ensures a vibration-free base.
3
Placing the watches. Open the glass lid with the provided key. Place each watch in its metal-rimmed slot — the soft retention mechanism automatically holds each piece without applying pressure to the strap or case. Adjust the strap fold if necessary for a harmonious fit.
4
Closing and locking. Close the glass lid. Activate the key lock to secure access — keep the key in a separate place from the box. For daily use without locking, the lid can remain closed without the lock activated.

Which Luxuria Temporum configuration to choose?

Capacity Dimensions Format Ideal for
2 slots 24 × 10 × 13 cm · 1.45 kg Compact Beginner or couple, 1-2 watches
3 slots 38 × 14 × 10 cm · 2.1 kg Linear Elegant horizontal presentation
4 slots ⭐ 24 × 24 × 10 cm · 2.1 kg Square Versatile, established collection of 3-4 pieces
6 slots 38 × 13 × 10 cm · 3.4 kg Long linear Established collection of 5-6 pieces
9 slots 38 × 33 × 10 cm · 3.8 kg 3×3 display Heritage collector

💡 Luxuria Temporum vs Ordo Tempus — which to choose? Both boxes have the same main function (storage and static presentation), but embody two opposing aesthetic universes. Ordo Tempus (polished aluminum, 5 slots, no lock): contemporary industrial rigor, ideal for modern offices and minimalist interiors. Luxuria Temporum (mahogany lacquered wood, 2-9 slots, key lock): traditional heritage luxury, ideal for cozy libraries, classic offices, and valuable collections requiring locking. The Luxuria Temporum is also the only one of the two to offer 5 different capacities (from 2 to 9 slots).

The soft retention mechanism — a detail that makes a difference: unlike standard boxes where the watch rests freely on a cushion, the Luxuria Temporum integrates a flexible retention mechanism that holds each watch in place in its slot. Concrete advantages: no displacement during transport or tilting of the box, no risk of shock between neighboring watches, no visible marks or pressure on straps or cases after placement. This is particularly important for delicate leather straps or precious metal cases that can mark under pressure.

Ideal for a major birthday, Father's Day, Christmas, retirement gift, professional promotion gift, or high-end business gift.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Luxuria Temporum a watch winder?
No — like the Ordo Tempus, the Luxuria Temporum is a static storage box, not a watch winder. It contains no rotation mechanism and therefore does not actively maintain the movement of automatic watches. Its function is to store, display, and secure watches in a protective, lockable case. It is complementary to a watch winder: the winder actively maintains 1-4 watches in rotation, while the Luxuria Temporum houses other pieces of the collection during extended breaks.
What's the difference with the Ordo Tempus?
Both boxes share the function of static storage but embody two opposite universes. Ordo Tempus: shiny aluminum, 5 slots, no lock, compact size 29 × 11 cm, contemporary industrial aesthetic. Luxuria Temporum: lacquered veined mahogany wood, 2/3/4/6/9 slots, secure key lock, shiny metal circles, traditional heritage luxury aesthetic. Choose Ordo Tempus for a modern, minimalist office, Luxuria Temporum for a classic library and/or a collection requiring locking.
Which Luxuria Temporum capacity should I choose?
Choose according to your current and future collection. 2 slots (24 × 10 × 13 cm): compact, for beginners or couples. 3 slots (38 × 14 × 10 cm): elegant linear design. 4 slots (24 × 24 × 10 cm): versatile square — often the most balanced choice. 6 slots (38 × 13 × 10 cm): for an established collection. 9 slots (38 × 33 × 10 cm): for a heritage collector, 3x3 display. Allow 1 to 2 extra slots for future additions.
What is the soft retention mechanism?
The soft retention mechanism is a flexible support system integrated into each slot that holds the watch in place without excessive pressure. Advantages: no movement of the watch during transport or tilting of the box, no risk of shock between neighboring watches, no visible marks or pressure on bracelets or cases. Particularly important for delicate leather straps or precious metal cases.
Is the key lock a real security system?
Yes — the physical key lock of the Luxuria Temporum offers a reasonable level of security for home use: it prevents opening by any unauthorized person who might pass by (household staff, children, guests). For professional security or against determined break-ins, a watch safe is more appropriate. The key can be kept separately (locked drawer, main safe) to maximize protection. Advantage of the physical key: no reliance on a battery or electronic sensor.
Are the shiny metal circles decorative or functional?
The shiny metal circles surrounding each slot have a dual function. Decorative: they constitute a goldsmith's signature reminiscent of classic jewelry boxes and bring a unique touch of luxury in the box category. Functional: they visually define each space, guide the placement of each watch, and offer circular protection against lateral friction between the watch and the partitions. This is a detail rarely present on competing boxes.
Does the Luxuria Temporum make a good gift?
It is a particularly suitable gift for a collector who appreciates traditional luxury and physical security. The combination of lacquered mahogany wood + shiny metal circles + key lock makes it an object immediately recognizable as noble when the package is opened. Particularly striking for a recipient who owns a valuable heritage collection and values the tangible security of the lock. The 9-slot version is the most spectacular (3x3 display). Ideal for a major birthday, Father's Day, Christmas, retirement, promotion, high-end business gift.

For the love of a dog!
Color: Blue, Style: Tootiez Hedgehog, Color: Blue, Style: Tootiez Hedgehog
Okay, first - this toy is a hoot. When you first get it and hear it's cute grunting/tooting sound, you can't help but grin and think, Yup! That sounds like somebody in here just tooted! Which for some reason always does seem to be a bit funny, doesn't it? And you'll probably find yourself chuckling a little and saying, Oh how cute. After that, the next logical step is you'll introduce the toy to your dog. And then, depending on your dog's particular personality, you may soon discover (as we did) the amazing love/hate relationship a human can develop with a simple dog toy. We have a 1-yr-old standard poodle whom we named Kenda. And yes, he is named after Joe (for any of you ID fans out there). His official AKC registered name is Lieutenant Kenda, Home Inside Hunter. Corny? No doubt. But it truly seemed an appropriate name for him, because this is the first dog we've ever owned that actually LOVES to play with dog toys and will endlessly hunt them down throughout the house. No toy, however well hidden, stands a chance with this determined toy hunter. As Joe might say, he WILL find you! :) His toys are his friends, and he is fiercely devoted to them. Enter the adorable little rubber hedgehog with his even more adorable "toot". The moment Kenda laid eyes (or ears?) on this little guy, all other toys were forgotten. It was love at first sight. So much so that within a few hours of him playing with this toy to the exclusion of all others, we decided to give him a name. We call him "Blue" (I know, we're so creative). Blue immediately became Kenda's best friend - or at least his best toy. He played with him constantly. He bit him, he wrestled with him, he chewed on him. He brought Blue to us and, if we were sitting down, very carefully placed this slobbery ball of rubber in our laps, as if asking, Can we play catch with Blue? Huh? Pretty please?? Sometimes we did, sometimes we didn't. On those occasions when we didn't, he would play catch with himself, picking Blue up in his mouth, swinging his head, and tossing him across the kitchen; then running/sliding across the kitchen floor to retrieve him on the other side of the room. In the beginning, if Blue was nowhere in sight (and with dogs, out of sight is usually out of mind), the hubby and I would get a kick out of saying, "Kenda, where's Blue?!" Just for the enormous fun of watching a 55-pound poodle suddenly leap a foot in the air, scramble his legs mid-air like Fred Flintstone getting his car started, then half running/half sliding across the kitchen hardwood floor in a desperate effort to find his beloved Blue. Oh, how we entertained ourselves in those early days watching Kenda with his Blue. And through it all, through every bite, squeeze, toss, push, throw, and chew of this toy.......the toot. The grunt. Okay, let's call it what it really sounds like, folks: a FART, okay? There, I've said it. It sounds like your grandpa just passed gas - bigtime. Funny? At first, yes. Hilarious. But a thousand times a day? Over and over and over? While you're trying to talk on the phone? While you're trying to have conversation with each other over coffee at the end of the day? Sometimes for an hour NON-STOP? Well, let's just say the humor of it all began to elude us a bit. And therein lies our love/hate relationship with this adorable little toy. We thought we'd died and gone to heaven one day when Blue stopped tooting. Turns out Kenda had chewed on him so much his tooter (located rather anatomically correctly in his tushie) had fallen out. Or rather IN, since it was now in Blue's tummy. Poor Blue, he couldn't make noise anymore, and although Kenda kept playing with him you could tell he was confused as to why his little buddy had fallen silent and wouldn't "talk" to him anymore. And as much as the hubby and I were enjoying the tooting reprieve, we couldn't take it. By the third silent day, I could almost feel the invisible hands of Amazon coaxing me toward my computer, gently urging me to buy another Blue. But I resisted, folks. I did NOT buy another Blue. I bought TWO more Blues! One for now, and one for that possible future day when this Blue, too, falls silent. Why? Because ... well, because it's BLUE! He's practically a member of the family now. The dog loves Blue, and we love the dog. I guess it's that simple. My final word on this dog toy? It's adorable. It's well made and will hold up to a ton of play and chewing. His tooter may not survive as long; I guess that remains to be seen. And if your dog is anything like mine, well then your sanity may take a hit as well. But if your dog loves his little hedgehog buddy as ours does, and if you love your dog (and you know you do!), then you might decide your sanity is worth the risk. Two thumbs way, WAY up! P.S. Blue now has a friend. We just bought the pink sheep. Kenda is in 7th heaven. Our house sounds like a retirement home after a chili bean supper. And yes, we named him "Pink". I told you - we are nothing if not creative.

My Dog's All-Time Favorite Toy
Color: Pink, Style: Grunt Sound
The first one of these I ever got her was at Petco on sale for $1 - best $1 ever! The reviews are right, though. The toy doesn't last forever and it's not good for aggressive chewers. In my opinion, however, that doesn't make it a bad toy. Here's why: Aggressive chewers comments: Getting my sister's French Bulldog a stuffed toy (that's shredded in 5 minutes), compared to my Pitbull who does not tear up any toys, but is a stronger chewer when it comes to bones. My pup does not tear this up at all, but my sister's dog would. My point is: Don't get your dog a soft toy if your dog ruins soft toys. Regarding the not long-lasting comments: the honking noise mechanism inside eventually pops inside the hole, rendering it honkless. Ours lasted about 6 months. It's pretty much impossible to fix unless you want to trouble yourself to fix it for 1 good honk each fix. I would, but I do also have a job to get to. My dog does still carry it around in it's noiseless state, but she doesn't play with it with the same enthusiasm. How did I resolve this? I bought her 5 😂 She's only on her second, but I decided to stock it because they were on sale for $5.10 - I don't think I will get rid of any of them. I will just let her play with them on rotation until they fall apart. Besides all that, my dog just simply loves this toy. I have never seen her so happy & playful with a toy. I can't promise this for your dog, as I can only tell you about mine. We even have a "Sheepy" song. [I have not been paid or given free Sheeps - my Sweet Pea just really loves her Sheepy]

Loud! Just Like She Likes It
Color: Hedgehog, Style: Big Squeak Hedgehog
My Great Dane loves this noisy toy. She prefers squeaky toys with loud, unusual squeakers. (I need to invest in earplugs.) She's not an agressuve chewer or rough player so this should last a long time. Like most squeaky toys she has, the squeaker wears out before the physical toy does and once the noise is gone she won't play with it any more. If others have a similar issue...check with your local animal shelter. Some (not all) will disinfect used toys for the dogs in their care.

Fun while it lasts…
Color: Pink, Style: Grunt Sound
Fun while it lasts. Doesn’t last very long. This is our third one and last maybe a few weeks. The part that makes noise comes detached inside which causes to toy to no longer make noise, but also can be dangerous if it comes out.
