The TAMRON 11-20mm F2.8 ultra-wide-angle zoom lens has a constant aperture of F2.8. Despite its fast F2.8 aperture, the lens is very small and feels perfectly balanced when mounted on a compact APS-C mirrorless camera body. With a full-frame equivalent zoom range of 16.5-30mm, it's ideal for everyday use. At the 11mm ultra-wide-angle end, the lens delivers stunning close-up performance with a minimum object distance (MOD) of 0.15m and maximum magnification ratio of 1:4. This feature invites creative wide-angle macro shooting that exploits the unique perspective that only ultra wide-angle lenses can provide. In addition, the silent RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor AF drive is perfect for both still and video shooting. This zoom lens is protected by a moisture resistant construction and a durable Fluorine Coating for added protection when shooting outdoors. With its compact size, fast F2.8 aperture, versatile zoom range and superb image quality, the 11-20mm zoom lens is ideal for travel, landscape, street and general photography. Ultra wide-angle zoom lens with a fast F2.8 aperture and superior usability
The 11-20mm F2.8 is a true ultra-wide-angle zoom lens with an aperture of F2.8 throughout the zoom range. It's also remarkably short at 86.5mm and lightweight at 335g. With this great portability, it offers a comfortable user experience for still photography and video shooting with a small tripod or gimbal stabilizer. Enjoy the unique and powerful world of ultra-wide-angle photography at the 11mm end (a full-frame equivalent of 16.5mm). Ideal for everyday use, the 20mm focal length (full frame equivalent of 30mm) is perfect for casual snapshots like street photography.
Outstanding optical performance
The 11-20mm F2.8 features 12 elements in 10 groups. Two precisely positioned GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements ensure high resolution from edge to edge. In addition, the 11-20mm F2.8 incorporates one XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) and two LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements to produce sharp images with highly corrected optical aberrations. It also features a BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti- Reflection Generation 2) coating to minimize ghosting and flare, revealing the finest details of subjects even when backlit. The combination of these features works in harmony to produce sharp images with natural colours and rich saturation.
Exceptionally quiet RXD stepping motor unit, perfect for video applications
The AF drive mechanism incorporates Tamron's RXD stepping motor unit. This very fast and accurate autofocus operation allows users to maintain sharp focus on continuously moving subjects and is perfect for both still and video use. The extremely quiet AF allows the lens to be used unobtrusively for indoor shooting, video content creation and other situations where low noise levels are required.
MOD of 0.15m at the 11mm focal length for creative ultra wide-angle macro
The 11-20mm F2.8 has a minimum focusing distance of 0.15m at the 11mm end and 0.24m at the 20mm end. This results in better and more versatile close-up performance than existing ultra-wide- angle zoom lenses at their widest focal length. At 11mm, the lens has an astonishing maximum magnification ratio of 1:4, enabling wide-angle macrophotography that utilizes the unique perspective of ultra-wide-angle lenses, while taking advantage of the expressive bokeh provided by the lens' fast maximum aperture.
Moisture-Resistant Construction and Fluorine Coating provide extra protection
Seals are placed around the lens mount and other critical areas to prevent ingress of moisture and/or raindrops, ensuring Moisture-Resistant Construction. In addition, the front surface of the lens element is coated with a protective fluorine compound that has excellent water and oil repellent properties.
