Vintage Gold & Original Grey — two patinas, one homage

The Vintage Gold allows the embossed floral motifs to shine under the warm gilding — an object reminiscent of the great tobacco accessories from prestigious 19th-century houses. The bronze-gold patina accentuates the reliefs, making them deeper, more present.

The Original Grey adopts the opposite register: the patinated grey metal allows the arabesque motifs to express themselves in nuance and the contrast of light and shadow. More discreet in tone, more revealing in detail. Two finishes for two temperaments — the object itself does not change.

Usage — 4 steps

Check the format: confirm that the cigar diameter is less than or equal to 23 mm (ring gauge ≤ 57). Robusto ring gauge 50, Churchill ring gauge 47, Corona ring gauge 42 are perfectly compatible. Gordo ring gauge 60 (∅ 23.8 mm) slightly exceed — use a cutter with a larger diameter.

Grip: hold the Heritage Edition by its oval shape — between thumb and forefinger or by grasping both sides. The embossed surface provides a natural non-slip grip. Open the blades.

Cut: center the cigar head in the oval opening — between 2 and 4 mm from the edge of the wrapper. Close with a firm, simultaneous motion from both sides. The double blade cuts symmetrically — clean cut, intact wrapper.

Maintenance and storage: wipe with a dry cloth after each use — tobacco residue can accumulate in the embossed motifs. Apply a drop of oil to the hinge every 6 months. Store in the black case to protect the patinated finish.

Maintenance of embossed motifs: the embossed arabesques can accumulate tobacco residue in their crevices. Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth following the reliefs, then dry immediately. For the Vintage Gold finish, avoid abrasive polishing products that can dull the velvety golden patina. For the Original Grey, a soft dry cloth is sufficient to maintain the patinated appearance. Apply a drop of light oil to the hinge every 6 months.

DNS is one of those concepts that is almost kept in mystery in the tech world. The knowledge seems to be passed by word of mouth, and there doesn't seem to be one good repository to go to as an information source. That is not to say that this book is all inclusive, no book can contain every piece of knowledge you need/desire, especially on such a complex topic. This book however does a phenomenal job of demystifying the subject and giving a good, practical understanding of how DNS and BIND work. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, whether it be the new network/sys admin who has just had complex networking needs dropped on his lap, or even the seasoned network admin who needs a good convenient reference on occasion.
