Can I measure the density of a resin pellet or sheet that floats in water?
Yes. For materials that float in water, use a lower-density liquid, like methanol (density 0.798) or kerosene (density 0.80). The kit includes a float to measure the density of the liquid.

Is it possible to measure a sample containing bubbles?
Yes, but bubbles may gradually disappear, affecting density readings. Samples that float in water cannot be accurately measured with this kit.

How can I reduce the effect of water's surface tension on measurement repeatability?
Adding a few drops of a mild surfactant (e.g., dish detergent) reduces surface tension. Methanol also minimizes surface tension effects without additional surfactants.

What if bubbles form on the sample surface when using tap water?
Tap water may release dissolved gases that create bubbles. Using pure or distilled water, with fewer dissolved gases, helps prevent this issue.

How do I prevent bubbles on water-repellent materials like rubber?
Before measurement, soak the sample in water with a small amount of surfactant. This increases hydrophilicity and reduces bubble formation.

What is the maximum sample size that the kit can measure?
The maximum sample size is 25 mm in diameter, 30 mm in height, and up to 100 g in mass.

Can high-viscosity liquids be measured?
The kit measures liquids with viscosities up to 500 mPa·s. Higher viscosities may slow float sinking, causing errors. Adhesive liquids are not recommended as they may stick to the float.

Will using a semi-micro balance improve measurement accuracy?
Not necessarily. Surface tension can cause errors from 0.2 to 1.0 mg, which may exceed the accuracy of a semi-micro balance in the 0.01 mg range.
