The Powerhouse accommodates the latest Radial modules with Omniport while also being backwards compatible with old modules. This means that it will work with pretty much all 500 series modules. As there is no audio circuitry other than connectors, the Powerhouse will not impart any color or distortion.

The Workhorse Powerhouse 500 Series Power-Rack from Radial Engineering is a ten card-slot power rack designed to fit 3 standard 19" rack-spaces (3 RU). The Powerhouse accommodates the latest Radial modules with Omniport while also being backwards compatible with old modules. This means that it will work with pretty much all 500 series modules. As there is no audio circuitry other than connectors, the Powerhouse will not impart any color or distortion.

The Powerhouse employs gold plated 15-pin EDAC card-edge connectors on the inside plane and nickel-silver Neutrik connectors on the back panel for signal transfer. Each slot is equipped with an auto-resetting fuse to protect the system should a faulty module be employed. A 1600mA external supply provides plenty of current to feed the modules and 48V for phantom power.

The Powerhouse design begins with heavy 14-gauge steel construction and baked enamel finish for maximum shielding against noise and great durability when subjected to road use. An 'easy glide' slider tray makes it painless to align the PCB connector to the 15-pin card edge receptacle when swapping modules. Once connected, the rear panel sports a standard array of XLRs to connect to and from the workstation or mixer. This is augmented with a series of 1/4" TRS connectors that enable cross-patching and allow for parallel signal processing.

Instead of having to hard patch modules together using a cable, the Powerhouse incorporates a feed switch that instantly connects the signal to the adjacent module. This makes building signal chains quick and eliminates the need for extra cables. Besides, the Powerhouse is equipped with a stereo link function that takes care of the task with a simple slide of a switch.

The Powerhouse boasts a 1600mA power supply that lets you share the power as needed. It can deliver 300mA to your 2-tube preamps and still have over 1000mA left in the pool. It is also equipped with extra safety features to ensure safe use when mixing and matching various brands.

The Powerhouse delivers more flexibility and can be used in various applications.

The Powerhouse houses 10 modules in a compact 19" rack space, making it suitable for use as a side car to house various effects and dynamic processors. Simply wire to your patch-bay and enjoy the convenience, power, and flexibility of the 500 series format.

Live recording is best achieved by using separate preamps for each microphone and instrument. Combine Radial PowerPre mic preamps and Radial JDV-Pre instrument preamps (both sold separately) to record pristine audio tracks and then split the output to the house mixer and PA system.

Combine your favorite sounding preamps, EQs, and compressors to create the ultimate stereo preamp. With 1600mA of current, you have plenty of power to keep your tube preamps running.

10-Space Rack

Fully compatible with old 500 series racks, the Powerhouse gives you 10 spaces for plenty of room to create elaborate signal chains.

Safety Circuits

Built inside all Workhouse racks are special safety circuits for each module to protect the rack and adjacent modules from mishap.

Mil-spec PCB

Double sided military grade circuit board with through hole parts that are soldered on both sides for improved performance. Full ground plane to reduce noise.

Solid Steel

The Powerhouse is made road-ready with 14-gauge steel construction and welded corners for great durability and improved shielding.

Alignment Tray

The Powerhouse makes it easy to slide modules in and out by providing a vertical alignment tray which accommodates most modules and can be removed if need be.

Standard 19" Rack

Suited for recording studios, broadcast stations, and live touring, the Powerhouse fits all standard 19" racks using only 3 spaces (3 RU)

Power LEDs

Front panel LED indicators provide a visual status for both +/- 16V rail voltage and 48V phantom power.

High Current Supply

The Powerhouse is equipped with extra powerful 1600 mA. The shared pool enables you to use the tube module without the fear of brownouts.

Stereo Link

Linking 2 channels is done by sliding the 'Link' switch in the up position.

XLR Connectors

Standard XLR connectors with large channel ID number on each slot make it quick and easy to patch with professional balanced line level gear.

Omniport

This 1/4" TRS jack changes function depending on what module is connected.

External Power

To keep noise out of the box, the Powerhouse employs an external power supply just like full-size studio mixers. A 5-pin XLR is used to secure the power cable.

Ground Lugs

The Powerhouse is equipped with separate chassis and earth ground lugs for studios with grounding schemes. They can be rear panel mounted for easy access.

1/4" TRS Connectors

1/4" inputs and outputs on each slot are wired in parallel with the XLRs. Used to cross-patch modules using standard TRS cables for parallel processing.

Feed Function

The Powerhouse eliminates the need for inter-module patch cables with the 'Feed' function that sends the output from one module to the next.

    Takes a beating - looks like new!

    EDITED AGAIN, 12/28/22: My boy still has his original blue one of these and the yellow one from way back. He's received a couple more over the years which he's managed to sneak out of the house and lose - evidently neighbor dogs or perhaps foxes, etc love them, too, and carry them off?! At any rate, he'd managed to get himself back to his original two, so I bought him a late Christmas present of a new yellow bone. He just opened the package (with help, of course - he's smart, but lacks the necessary opposing thumbs to do it on his own) and he was ecstatic! He reached into the mailing envelope, grabbed it, gave it a couple of triumphant tosses then ran for his bed, pulled a blanket in, and has been chewing, fighting with, burying in the blanket and "discovering" it for about a half hour now! I don't know what the attraction is, but he still loves these things and they're still lasting! The only other toys that have lasted more than a day are Nylabones (because he won't even look at them, let alone touch them) and a set of interlocked skinny rubber rings that he's not at all interested in, but if I ask about them, he'll move them around the room for a couple of days to make me feel better! LOL EDITED TO ADD 2022: Here I am, back 5 1/2 years later to say my dog STILL has this bone and makes use of it a couple of times a week. And he still loves it and sleeps with it. He has gone through a couple of the smaller version (yellow instead of blue) over this time frame because those get constant use. But that’s amazing in itself!! These are still the only toy I would call indestructible. Great toy! I have a dachshund who destroys toys in record time. I can hear the amused chuckles now, but anyone who has seen him in action (including rottie, pit bull and Doberman owners) is in awe. He is very methodical and relentless - the mad genius of dog toy torture! Small and quiet but utterly ruthless. Anyway...my boy has been working on this since the beginning of October and the thing looks like new! I think you can see one tooth mark, otherwise it looks untouched! This is a dog who can reduce Kongs and other rubber toys to a pile of chunks in minutes. But he also LOVES it - carries it around, brings it into his bed at night to sleep, and when his doxie brother (who is far too dignified to do dog toys) doesn't feel well, it is offered up as a "feel better" snuggly...for about 2 minutes. But it's the thought that counts, right? I don't know what makes this so attractive to my mini-Jaws and so long-lasting, but it works!

    This came highly recommended by the behavioural team at the animal shelter and it hasn't disappointed. It's interesting reading the reviews, because our power-chewer pit-mix who can get a chunk off a split antler in a matter of minutes, hasn't ever been able to get a bite out of this bone! This is a great play toy for her, because it's soft enough that we can throw it for her to fetch in the house without worrying about breaking/denting something and are able to pull it out of her mouth fairly easily once she brings it back (still hasn't learned "drop it!"). The bone isn't flavored, so she'll rarely go to it on her own to chew on, but we keep it near the couch so if she ever gets bitey, we have it close at hand to offer to her as a chewer. It's also entertaining to tuck it into her collar and have her figure out how to remove it to play with it (see photo for this game and size compared to 50lb mutt).

    Excellent for aggressive chewers

    First I would like to say I think Jolly Pets are the best line of dog toys out there if you have an aggressive chewer. Their products have amazed me! And I am not being paid for this review. I have a 155 lb mastiff that is an excellent behaved boy but loves to destroy his toys. I had this bone in large and it held up excellent for about 4-5 months. I ordered it again in medium size by mistake and after 2 weeks it already has pieces missing...my fault. My only complaint is the medium size in blue smells like vanilla perfume. I can't wash it off. Although my handsome boy doesn't seem to mind. I just reordered in large. Also ordered a few other Jolly Pet toys as I am amazed at how they hold up. The "soccer ball" is my dogs favorite. It reinflates itself again and again no matter how much chewing or wear and tear its given. It's just magic!
