Vegetal Negatives is a game of sonic mutations, mimicry, inversions, and association inspired by a text called "On pataphotograms", by the French writer René Daumal - a quasi-metaphysical essay that toys with breaking the conceived separateness of natural forms through poetic imagination. Marja Ahti (b. 1981) is a Swedish-born artist living and working in Turku, Finland. She has been an active part of the Finnish experimental music scene for more than ten years, performing with Ahti & Ahti and under the moniker Tsembla. Now arriving at her debut LP under her own name, Ahti explores a new formal language and sonic palette that ventures far from the path of her earlier work. The four electroacoustic compositions on the album combine and arrange field recordings, electronic feedback, Buchla and ARP synthesizers, bowl gong and harmonium, textures of detailed acoustic sound, and sustained tones with gentle microtonal beating into a precise musical narrative. She juxtaposes recordings of rooms and empty vessels, natural and artificial climates, spontaneous and staged events. Ahti draws upon Annea Lockwood's ideas about associative movements between sounds based on shared characteristics and sonic energy. The sounds hover between abstraction and the deeply familiar, moving into a realm of poetic metaphor where they are set in relation to each other, fleetingly mirroring or shadow-dancing. Acoustic environments mutate into synthetically derived shadow forms.

An Impressive detailed account for many to learn from

I haven’t finished with 2 chapters remaining but it’s a well thought out and vivid account of the horrific events of the Tulsa massacre. I was a novice on this event, having only known the high level details, and was given a more detailed lesson and edification of he horrific massacre of the Greenwood district of Tulsa OK. Well done Mr King!

A Must Read! I Cited it in my Book!
This book is a worthy read. It was good enough that I had to cite it in my book: The Real Wakandas of Africa: Dr. John Henrik Clarke vs. Herman Cain. The real value in this book is how it shaped the perspective of many black churches in America. In fact, it should be mandatory reading for every leader of a black church. The author maps a framework that was considered to be cutting edge for the churches of his day. This author was impacted by leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. In fact, he has another book on these leaders. Surely, this book was influenced by his perspective on these two great black men. You’ll find this work provides both a home for black Christian thought and a framework for the worship of christianity in the black community. However, you might not agree with every idea. As with any work that attempts to forge a new ideology, a certain dogma can come along with that ideology. Indeed, this is needed in many arenas that impact black people. Nevertheless, this book is a classic and an important read. If you wish to understand more about ways in which to improve the black community through the church, this book is fundamental. It is a must read!
