What exactly is ferrofluid?
Ferrofluid is a colloidal liquid composed of iron nanoparticles (magnetite) suspended in a carrier liquid. These nanoparticles, about a nanometer in size, are too small to settle by gravity and remain in permanent suspension. When in contact with a magnet, they align and form the characteristic structures called "Rosensweig instability" — these regular spikes visible on the liquid's surface.
Why does ferrofluid form spikes?
The spikes (Rosensweig instability) form when the magnetic force exceeds the liquid's surface tension. Ferrofluid seeks to follow the magnetic field while minimizing its energy — the balance between these two forces creates the characteristic and regular structures observable on the surface.
Are the included magnets powerful enough?
Yes — the 2 included magnets are sized to create visual effects through the bottle's glass. For more intense effects or at a greater distance, additional neodymium magnets (sold separately) can amplify the formations.
Is ferrofluid dangerous?

This filter is very comparable to the stock filter. Fits the BMW G20 just like OEM. I would not say it is two times "heavier" as advertised on the box, but it is very comparable to stock. It's the same weight and similar construction. BMW has a very robust cabin filter. This will be my go to. I did purchase another aftermarket cabin filter that fit well, but was thin, flimsy and had a bad chemical odor. This one is fine and airflow is the same as OEM. I change them every year or so. I don't worry too much about longevity with cabin filters personally.

Bought this cabin filter for a 2023 Acura TLX. While the filter seems to be made of quality material, it was just a little too long (about a 1/16 of an inch, so I had to trim it to make it fit so the cover would fit snug. I was able to do that without compromising the filter itself. But this might be an issue for some people

Fits perfectly for my 2017 VW Passat

An auto shop wanted to charge me $72.99 for a filter so I bought this Spearhead brand cabin filter and its the perfect size and its just as sturdy as the previous one the dealership had in the car.
