The M/E-ISW Series Hardened Mini Fast Ethernet Media Converter delivers robust, reliable media conversion between copper and fiber in the smallest possible footprint. Built for the rigors of outdoor and industrial networks, this device thrives where standard office hardware would struggle: extreme temperatures, vibration, dust, moisture, and electromagnetic interference. It enables rapid upgrades from legacy 10/100Base-TX copper networks to fiber links by providing a seamless bridge to 100Base-FX, unlocking longer distances and greater immunity to interference without replacing the entire switch infrastructure. The compact, rugged design is purpose-built for field deployments, remote campuses, manufacturing floors, or outdoor surveillance installations where space is at a premium and reliability is non-negotiable. With plug-and-play simplicity, minimal configuration is required, helping network technicians deploy solutions quickly while maintaining uptime. The M/E-ISW series is ideal for applications such as industrial automation, security camera deployments, building management systems, and remote monitoring networks where resilient connectivity and easy maintenance are essential. The operating temperature range of -40°C to 75°C ensures operation across harsh climatic conditions, from freezing winters to hot summer days, making this converter a dependable component in any harsh environment. By converting to 100Base-FX fiber, you gain greater distance without the limitations of copper media, improved network security through isolated fiber paths, and reduced electromagnetic interference from nearby equipment. Whether you are upgrading a legacy network or extending reach to remote nodes, this compact, hardened mini converter provides a cost-effective, plug-and-play solution that aligns with modern Ethernet standards while enduring the toughest environments. Its rugged design, simple deployment, and versatile compatibility make it a smart choice for engineers seeking reliability, performance, and long-term value in challenging installations.

  • Rugged, industrial-grade enclosure designed to withstand outdoor and harsh industrial environments, with a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 75°C, ensuring reliability across seasons and in challenging sites. The compact housing is engineered for resilience against dust, moisture, and thermal cycling, preserving signal integrity and reducing maintenance outages in remote locations.
  • Seamless copper-to-fiber conversion between 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX, enabling long-reach connectivity and easier integration with existing copper networks without replacing core switches. This capability supports a smoother migration path, allowing hybrid deployments that maximize network uptime while expanding bandwidth and reach.
  • Plug-and-play operation with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDI-X support reduces installation time, minimizes configuration steps, and lowers the risk of misconfigurations in field deployments. No complex setup is required—drop in the unit, connect copper and fiber links, and power up to begin transmitting data.
  • Compact mini form factor fits into tight cabinets, enclosures, or pole-mounted housings, delivering versatility for space-constrained installations while maintaining performance. The lightweight footprint allows multiple units to be deployed in dense infrastructure footprints without sacrificing performance or accessibility for maintenance.
  • Cost-effective upgrade path for upgrading legacy copper networks to fiber, improving resilience, security, and network uptime in industrial, outdoor, and surveillance applications. By leveraging fiber for critical links, you gain immunity to electrical noise, reduced susceptibility to interference, and the ability to place important links farther from powered equipment.

How to install Transition Networks Hardened Mini Fast Ethernet Media Converter

  • Plan your topology by identifying the copper segment (10/100Base-TX) and the fiber segment (100Base-FX) and ensuring you have the appropriate fiber type and connectors for your network. Verify distances and link budgets according to your fiber path to avoid excessive attenuation.
  • Mount the converter in a suitable enclosure or on a shelf in a climate-controlled area; ensure the enclosure is protected from direct weather exposure and dust, with adequate cooling and ventilation to prevent thermal buildup.
  • Connect the copper side to your network device using a CAT5e/6 twisted-pair cable, ensuring proper termination, secure connections, and clean contact surfaces to maintain signal quality.
  • Connect the fiber side to the fiber link using the appropriate single-mode or multi-mode fiber and connectors required by your deployment; use proper protective boots and check for clean, debris-free connectors to avoid insertion losses.
  • Power the unit using the correct power source recommended by the model; verify that the indicator LEDs show link and activity on both copper and fiber ports, indicating proper operation.
  • Document the installation and label cabling for future maintenance, including port mappings, fiber type, and link direction to simplify troubleshooting and future upgrades.
  • Test network connectivity end-to-end by sending traffic from the copper network to the fiber link; monitor for stable throughput, low latency, and error-free transmission under typical operating conditions.
  • If needed, deploy basic network monitoring and update firmware as per vendor guidelines to ensure ongoing performance, security, and compatibility with evolving network requirements.

Fabric shaver works fine but the shield gets in the way, and the included lint roller is terrible
Color: Sage, Size: Large, Color: Sage, Size: Large
I ordered this to replace an older, smaller fabric shaver that still worked fairly well but had an extremely annoying battery compartment that would slide open during use. I do not have that issue at all with this one. In fact, the compartment is almost a little too secure, as it can be difficult to open and I sometimes make a mess when emptying it, but that is likely just something I need to get used to. The shaver itself works well enough overall, but I do think the fabric shield should be adjustable to sit closer to the blades. You can rotate it to change the position, but it does not get close enough to the fabric to work effectively without applying extra pressure. Once I figured out how much pressure is needed, it performed consistently, and I am generally satisfied with the results. I also prefer this handle style over the electric razor style shavers, so the grip and overall shape worked well for me. The included lint roller, however, is awful. Mine arrived noticeably warped and looked almost like it had water damage, even though it was fully sealed in plastic. I am not sure what caused that, but it was barely usable out of the box, so it did not feel like a major loss. The adhesive sheets are extremely thin and feel more like slick, lightly sticky wax paper rather than the thicker paper style sheets I normally use. The perforation is also poorly designed, which makes removing used sheets frustrating. The sheets kept peeling incorrectly until I realized you have to tear them straight across horizontally, similar to separating toilet paper. Even after figuring that out, it was still annoying to deal with. To make matters worse, the handle started cracking almost immediately once I applied enough pressure to actually roll it across fabric. At that point, it was effectively unusable.aaaAAA I mainly ordered this bundle for the large fabric shaver, which I didn't see sold separately on Amazon. I think $14.99 is a reasonable price for this type of shaver, but the cost could likely be lower if they did not include the low quality lint roller.

Not the best
Color: Beige, Size: Large
Not the best fabric shaver I’ve used, by a long shot. While I appreciate the shield for protecting expensive fabrics, it stands in the way of being able to effectively use this. I have some thinner cashmere and merino sweaters with some pilling that I was really hoping to fix and this didn’t do a good job and was more of a headache due to the shield problem. The lint roller is okay but not as much adhesive as others I have so is not as efficient at picking up lint and requires multiple rounds to remove the lint. It’s lightweight and straightforward to use but wish it worked better. This is okay for the price but spending a few bucks more will get you a set that’s more effective, which is worth it in the long run to save you time on what should really otherwise be simples tasks to do.

Works great and lovely color!
Color: Beige, Size: Large, Color: Beige, Size: Large
A decent lint remover and great fabric shaver. I have so many tops that bead and this fabric shaver has become a most effective way to remove those little fuzzies and beaded areas of fabric that make my tops look old. This makes my clothes look new. It’s extremely easy to use but it does not include the 2 AA batteries you’ll need, so definitely grab you some. It’s durable and does the job fast. Overall, very handy, a good value, and excellent quality. I would recommend!
