Eazy-E's debut studio album, Eazy-Duz-It, was released on November 22, 1988, through Ruthless Records and Priority Records. Recorded at Audio Achievements in Torrance, California, the album features production almost solely by Dr. Dre and DJ Yella, with writing contributions from MC Ren, the D.O.C., and Ice Cube. The production blends P-Funk, Def Jam-style hip-hop, and mid-1980s Los Angeles electro sounds into a dense, funky style. It remains the only full-length solo album Eazy-E released during his lifetime.
The album includes the title track "Eazy-Duz-It" and a remix of "Boyz-n-the-Hood," originally released in 1986. Tracks like "No More ?'s" continue the gangster lifestyle themes, depicting life in Compton through elaborate storytelling. The album charted on two different charts and achieved 2× Platinum certification in the United States despite minimal radio and television promotion. Three singles were released, each charting in the US.
Critics offered mixed reviews, with some praising the production and Eazy's charisma while others criticized the lyrics. AllMusic called it a "humorous, self-centered twist on Straight Outta Compton" and a "great companion" to that album. In 2022, Rolling Stone ranked Eazy-Duz-It 153rd on their list of "The 200 Greatest Hip-Hop Albums of All Time."
