The Kramer VM-218DT Video Distribution Amplifier is a premium long‑reach HDBaseT distributor designed to deliver pristine 4K video to eight destinations from a single source. Built for professional environments—whether corporate, educational, hospitality, or command-and-control rooms—this device combines flexible input options, robust signal integrity, and per-output control to create a scalable, worry‑free AV distribution solution. The VM-218DT accepts either HDMI or a long-reach HDBaseT input ( selectable), equalizes and reclocks the incoming signal, and then distributes identical copies to eight HDBaseT outputs, each with its own RS-232 and IR control signals. This combination of features makes it ideal for multi‑room installations, digital signage networks, or any setting that requires reliable, synchronized video across multiple displays or projectors. With its rugged 1U form factor and straightforward setup, the VM-218DT offers both performance and simplicity in one compact package.

  • Flexible input options: The VM-218DT supports a selectable input path, allowing either a traditional HDMI source or a long‑reach HDBaseT input. This flexible pairing simplifies system design by accommodating legacy equipment alongside modern HDBaseT sources, reducing the need for multiple adapters or complex cabling plans. Whether you’re upgrading an existing installation or building a new venue, you can configure the input to suit your source layout and distance requirements without sacrificing performance.
  • Eight identical long‑reach outputs with per‑output control: Distribute the same high‑quality signal to eight destinations while maintaining independent RS‑232 and IR control for each output. This per‑output control capability enables precise room automation, centralized management, and flexible content delivery—perfect for classrooms, conference facilities, hotel lobbies, and large multi‑zone installations where each display may require its own local control commands.
  • 4K at 60 Hz with 4:2:0 chroma: The VM‑218DT supports 4K video up to 60 Hz in 4:2:0 color space, delivering crisp, detailed images suitable for most professional applications. By focusing bandwidth on essential color data, the device achieves reliable long‑distance distribution without compromising picture quality, making it a dependable choice for high‑definition presentations, digital signage, and AV installations that demand sharp 4K content across multiple displays.
  • Advanced signal integrity features: Built‑in equalization and reclocking compensate for transmission impairments over long HDBaseT/CAT cable runs. These signal processing capabilities help preserve edge sharpness, color fidelity, and timing across all outputs, reducing the risk of dropouts, frame losses, or skew in complex multi‑display configurations. The result is a stable, uniform viewing experience from the first frame to the last.
  • Professional design for easy installation: Encased in a rugged 1U chassis, the VM‑218DT is designed for standard rack mounting, helping it integrate cleanly into any equipment rack. It includes clear status indicators and supports comprehensive control options via RS‑232 and IR on each output, enabling both automated system control and manual override when needed. The combination of durable construction and straightforward wiring makes it well suited for frequent use in busy AV environments.

How to install Kramer VM-218DT Video Distribution Amplifier

  • Plan your layout: Determine the location of the VM‑218DT in your rack and map out the eight display destinations. Ensure you have suitable HDMI and HDBaseT sources and the appropriate CAT cables for each run.
  • Mount the unit: Install the VM‑218DT in a standard 19" equipment rack, securing it with screws as required. Confirm that there is adequate ventilation around the chassis to prevent overheating during operation.
  • Connect the input: Choose either HDMI or long‑reach HDBaseT input on the VM‑218DT. Attach the source device to the selected input using a high‑quality HDMI cable for HDMI input or a compatible HDBaseT link for a long‑reach input. If you’re using an HDBaseT source, connect it to the HDBaseT input as configured.
  • Connect the outputs: Run eight CAT cables (HDBaseT capable) from the VM‑218DT’s eight outputs to the corresponding display endpoints, projectors, or HDBaseT receivers. Keep runs neatly labeled to simplify future maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Configure control channels: If you intend to use RS‑232 or IR control on any output, attach the control devices or room controllers to the corresponding ports. Ensure any required protocol settings are aligned with your control system so you can command each destination individually or in groups.
  • Power up and test: Apply power to the VM‑218DT and power on the source and all displays. Test the signal across all outputs, verifying that each destination receives a stable 4K image and that the RS‑232/IR control commands respond as expected. Adjust input selection if needed and confirm synchronization across the eight outputs.
  • Fine‑tune as needed: If you observe any timing or synchronization issues, revisit the cabling and confirm the correct input type is selected. The VM‑218DT’s built‑in equalization and reclocking are designed to compensate for common cabling limits, but a clean installation with well‑matched cables will yield the best results.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Fantastic writing and non-stop action
Format: Kindle
This is a promising, fantastic beginning to what will be a 4-book series. Some readers may be content to read only the first 2 books, but I think you'll find that the story is so good that you'll want to keep reading books 3 and 4. Book 1 is about omega Elvana's introduction to the "Starling" brothers and their search for another missing person, Kelly. It's a bit of a rocky start, with deception and betrayal a key element. Hardly an auspicious beginning. Each member has their own path and purpose in the pack. Their interactions and the resulting narrative are so well-written that I found it difficult to put down. There is a cliffhanger that will have you reaching for book 2 as you finish, so make sure you have it on hand.
