Island Follies is the first book to explore the work of Henry Melich (1924–1999), a Czech-born architect who brought a beguiling form of neoclassicism to the Caribbean. While Melich built projects in the United States and England, he’s best remembered for the romantic houses he designed in sunny island retreats like Lyford Cay, Harbour Island, and Windermere Island in the Bahamas.
Melich created a romantic sense of escape with a softly cushioned whimsy and discrete air of tranquility. His signature motifs included faux-marbled walls, seasoned wood, colonnades, and tentlike interiors with striped ceilings. Melich’s interiors suited the playful mood of the moment documented in this book with the warm touch of Slim Aarons, who came to the Bahamas in the 1960s and 1970s to capture high-society figures in their homes. Gardens with bougainvillea-draped pergolas, ivy-clad alcoves, and palm-lined allées are just some of the features that extend the architecture into the tropical landscape and embrace the indoor-outdoor lifestyle of these houses.
Island Follies showcases the best of Melich’s island projects, with new photography of many previously unpublished interiors, capturing a lost world of glamour certain to inspire lovers of interior design and island retreats alike.

Close...but not quite the length.

I will admit, I thought their picture was off, because when I saw 16" in the title I was expecting the distance between the knots to be 16 inches in length. So if you're looking for a good length tug-of-war rope for a medium to large dog, look somewhere else. I'm not returning it, it's good quality cotton rope asides that. My dog needs a new toy and cotton ones are harder to find. Next time I'm going to their amazon store directly to look for what I wanted though. I will buy from them again, I like the quality and the fact that, for once, cotton is actually cotton.

Great toy

I got this because my puppy chews through the other kinds of rope toys. This one is laying though. Only thing is, she's eating off the loose strings. Lol So she's pooping strings all the time

The strings on the end are super engaging and the rope itself holds up really well

Super cost effective way to redirect chewing!! Our 4 month old corgi quickly made this is favorite toy. He loves the strings on the side and tugs on it endlessly, and the main rope was pretty firm at first but has softened up while maintaining its strength. Highly recommend as an interactive toy or just something for your dog to chew on their own so you can take some time to chill on your own!

Not for aggressive chewers!

At first glance, this rope toy seemed sturdy and well made. However, within an hour of my Vizsla chewing on it, she had already bitten off and unfortunately swallowed several of the fringes. The center of the rope also began to unravel.
This toy may be suitable for smaller dogs or those that aren’t aggressive chewers, but I wouldn’t recommend it for large dogs or heavy chewers. Additionally, while it may measure 14 inches before being knotted at the ends, the total length is shorter than advertised.

Two knots, Not 3…

Been subscribed & saving on 3 knot version for years. My dogs gnaw through the center knot and they quickly unravel. This 2 knot version seems to last much longer.
