‘Desperate To Come Out’ channels the spirit of Boy George’s lifelong performance of self, expressed through music, fashion and art. The punk-inspired figure stands boldly, its starkly contrasting hair and skin reminiscent of the artist’s New Romantic style, in which he decorated his face, neck and ears with purposely lurid colour. 

The piece bursts with character, echoing the vitality and expressive power of Boy George’s distinctive aesthetic. Accentuated details like a button for an eye, exaggerated lashes and the veil of glitter serve as signatures of his personal style.
