Nose: An unmistakable Sherry influence presents itself from the beginning, with rich notes of date syrup and raisins kicking of this full-bodied dram.
Palate: A tannic, spicy element is introduced in the palate, along with notes of cola cubes, cherry menthol, cinnamon and caramel. The typical Springbank characteristics hold their own against the heavy PX influence in an apparent oiliness and damp, dunnage note.
Finish: The tannic element continues through to the finish, and PX qualities come to the forefront in notes of sultanas and rich spices.
Springbank: Das Flaggschiff heißt schlicht Springbank– und wird wegen seines legendären Salztons gerne als „der Maritime“ bezeichnet. Leicht getorft und 2,5 fach destilliert, wurde der Single Malt schon 1828 zum ersten Mal abgefüllt und ist heute in den Altersstufen 10, 12, 15, 18 und 21 Jahre erhältlich. Dabei ist jede einzelne Abfüllung ein individuelles Geschmackserlebnis: Bei der für 10 Jahre gereiften Edition etwa spielt das Aroma mit dem Geschmack süßer Früchte und Honig und variiert dies unnachahmlich mit einem feinen Torfton. Rundum ausgewogen im Geschmack, mit einer tiefen und dennoch unaufdringlichen Malznuance und stets präsenter rauchiger Note ist dieser Whisky lang und elegant im Abgang. Erhältlich in 46 % Vol. und Cask Strength.
