Following two years of worldwide touring for the much-heralded Jama Ko (OH 021 CD/LP), Bassekou's band, Ngoni Ba, has turned up the volume and dynamics significantly and Bassekou's masterful ngoni playing has achieved a new level of intensity that can only be called: Afro-rock. Distortion and wah-wah and propulsive rhythms now form the defining backbone of his songs and the white-hot vocals of his wife, Amy Sacko, serve more than ever as his passionate and perfect foil. When asked what Ba Power means to him, Bassekou replied, 'Ba,' in Bambara, means 'strong' or 'great' and it also means 'group.' I called the album Ba Power because I think the messages on it are very important and strong, and it is also definitely the album with the toughest sound I've ever made. I want these songs to grab as many people as possible. Ba Power was recorded in November of 2014 at MBK Studios in Bamako, a studio just down the road from the Kouyate family home in the hills at the edge of the city. Produced by Chris Eckman (Tamikrest, Aziza Brahim), the album began with Ngoni Ba playing together live in a relaxed, intimate space. Features appearances from legendary Songhai blues guitarist Samba Toure on Fama Magni, soku master Zoumana Tereta on Fama Magni, vocalist Adama Yalomba Waati, massively influential composer and trumpeter Jon Hassell on Aye Sira Bla, guitarist Chris Brokaw (The Lemonheads) on Siran Fen and Abe Sumaya, and drummer Dave Smith (JuJu, Fofoulah, The Sensational Space Shifters with Robert Plant) on four songs including opener Siran Fen. Ba Power contains all the swagger, precision, and wide-eyed excitement that the title implies. It is the album on which Bassekou's music engages with the world in unprecedented ways, and the album with which he confirms his status among the 21st century's most relevant musical artists. I think African music and culture deserve to be spread to the broadest audience possible. That is what I want to accomplish with Ba Power -Bassekou Kouyate. Better than our actual mattress!!

Purchased for company to stay with us in our apartment. I honestly had no idea they made air mattresses this tall until I saw a friend with one!
My husband and I tested it out last night. We were both really impressed!
1. Really easy to inflate! First time having an internal air pump. No more forgetting the pump! The motor wasn’t nearly as loud as our previous air pump! I was able to talk to my husband and he could still hear me over the pump running.
2. Really comfortable and supportive! We chose not to inflate it fully so it contoured to our bodies better. We slept on the mattress with no sheets and I wasn’t able to feel the creases in the top which was nice. No issues with sagging and we both didn’t wake up smooshed in the middle. My husband got up in the middle of the night and I didn’t notice. So movement of the mattress is minimal! Easy to get on and off with the 22” height.
3. Easy to deflate! We followed the instructions for folding and we got it in the storage bag with no issues. Just make sure all of the air is out before you fold it.
4. High quality! We had both of our small dogs on this with us. I was afraid of their nails poking a hole but so far so good! Only a little bit of air leaked out but it could’ve been the material stretching out during the night.
Cons: The pump does not shut off automatically when inflating or deflating. So keep an eye on it so it doesn’t overfill. The mattress does get cold at night. My husband and I both mentioned that in the morning. I had to roll up in my blanket to stay warm. I’ll try sheets on next time. In the summer it might not be that big of an issue. Ours came with one patch. Hopefully we won’t need to use it.

Excellent pillow

This is a great pillow!! I ordered this for my elderly mother who wanted a softer pillow. She absolutely loves this one. It’s supportive, keeps her cool also keeps its shape. I love that it came with extra stuffing so you can customize it. Well worth the price!!

Very comfortable pillow

Fantastic pillow for the price, adjustable is a different ball-game entirely.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with this. The fact that it is fully adjustable (adding or removing foam, and they give you a bunch extra) is a massive boon as I like pillows to be pretty low profile. It feels nice to the touch, and compresses nicely but not a ton like down. The memory foam that is inside of it seems to be combined with some kind of a harder material, it's all shredded so I can't tell what it is, but it seems like maybe plastic or something of the kind. Hasn't been an issue in any way, but was just weird feeling it when removing foam.
I took a point off because there seems to be some false advertising going on. You can see in their picture that there is a tag that says bamboo side, the other side of that says cooling side. They also mention it in their advertising. As far as I can tell that is not true at all. The cover unzips so that you can remove the material so you can see that there is nothing on either side of it, and both sides appear visually identical to each other. Certainly I would NOT call this a cooling pillow in any way. It's maybe decently cool if you leave it in a cool place for a while, but over the course of the night warms up quite a bit. I did not notice any appreciable difference in the cooling of either side of it.
There is a definite noticeable smell to it, but I wouldn't call it 'bad' like most memory foam things are when they come from the factory. It smells kind of like some kind of cleaning solution in a noticeable but not unpleasant sense. All in all, for the price this is a fantastic pillow and I would definitely recommend it.
