Almost a decade on since ‘Elaenia’, his revered debut album, the composer has discovered new ways to thread his experiments outside of club music seamlessly into his music designed for the dancefloor.

Last year 15k people witnessed Shepherd perform his Mercury Prize nominated masterpiece ‘Promises’ at the Hollywood Bowl. Shepherd assembled an all-star cast of players that included Shabaka Hutchings, Kieran Hebden (Four Tet), Dan Snaith (Caribou), Kara Lis Coverdale and Hinako Omori, with Miguel Atwood Ferguson conducting.

Shepherd also recently composed his first ballet for symphony orchestra and electronics, Mere Mortals, which was performed by the San Francisco Ballet in collaboration with artistic director Tamara Tojo and choreographer Aszure Barton and Hamill Industries. The shows were critically acclaimed with rave reviews from The Guardian, Forbes, and more.
