The Black Box ServSwitch Wizard Dual-Link DVI Quad-Head with USB True Emulation is a high-end KVM switch designed to consolidate control of multiple DVI displays from a single operator console. Built for demanding multitaskers in engineering, design, data analysis, and multi-application environments, this system delivers crystal-clear multi-head video switching with seamless USB device emulation. With support for four DVI outputs and USB TRUE Emulation, it enables efficient, reliable access across several hosts without the typical interruptions associated with switching between computers.

  • Quad-Head DVI control: Manage four independent DVI displays from one keyboard and mouse console. This enables expansive, multi-monitor workflows, giving you more screen real estate for complex tasks, color-critical work, and data comparison across sources.
  • Dual-Link DVI compatibility: Designed to support high-resolution displays, ensuring sharp text, precise visuals, and accurate color representation for professional-grade applications that demand fidelity at large display sizes.
  • USB True Emulation: Each host session is USB-emulated to preserve device state and prevent the familiar re-enumeration or re-detection issues when you switch hosts. Ideal for USB keyboards, mice, mass storage devices, and other peripherals during dynamic switching.
  • Flexible switching options: Quick and reliable movement between hosts via hot-key commands, push-button access, and smart switching logic that suits busy operators who need fast, predictable transitions in critical workflows.
  • Rugged, enterprise-ready design: Built to withstand busy office environments or lab settings, with a robust enclosure, reliable signal handling, and a layout that simplifies cable management and setup for scalable multi-monitor configurations.

  • Power down your host systems before making any connections to avoid signal glitches and ensure a clean switch process.
  • Connect the four DVI displays to the corresponding DVI outputs on the ServSwitch Wizard using high-quality DVI cables rated for dual-link bandwidth.
  • Attach your keyboard and mouse to the console side, and connect any additional USB devices you want to use with USB True Emulation.
  • Link the ServSwitch Wizard to your four target hosts using the appropriate USB and video cables as specified by the documentation, following the recommended cable lengths for optimal performance.
  • Power on the devices in the correct sequence and use the front-panel buttons or the hot-key switching method to begin with test-switching. Verify that each host is correctly displayed on its respective DVI output and that USB peripherals enumerate properly with each switch.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What does USB True Emulation mean? A: USB True Emulation ensures that USB devices appear to the host system as if they were directly connected, preserving device state across switch events and reducing re-enumeration issues when changing which computer is actively controlled.
  • Q: How many displays can I drive with this KVM switch? A: This model supports four DVI displays (Quad-Head) from a single console, enabling expansive multi-monitor layouts for enhanced productivity and complex workflow management.
  • Q: Can I use this with high-resolution displays? A: Yes. Dual-Link DVI compatibility provides support for high-resolution displays, delivering crisp images, sharp text, and accurate color reproduction essential for design, engineering, and data visualization tasks.
  • Q: What switching methods are available? A: Typically, devices of this class offer hot-key switching, push-button controls, and auto-switching options to facilitate rapid and reliable host changes during intense work sessions.
  • Q: Is installation complicated? A: Not particularly. A standard setup involves connecting four DVI outputs, a console (keyboard/mouse/USB), and host connections. The process is designed to be straightforward for IT staff and power users, with clear documentation for guidance.

Easy install
Just installed in our bathroom. Feels solid. We have a potted plant on it now. You will want a drill bit extender to clear the shelf. I use the flexible type. Otherwise you won’t be able to get the screws in at a 90 degree angle.

Very nice, well made.
The nine-inch oak shelf is well made, and is 45 degrees. The wall where I planned to install it was not, and I suspect this is the problem some of the reviews saying the shelf was not made at 45 degrees. In my case, we removed wood a bit at a time until we achieved a good fit. We did receive all of the hardware, but beware. The plastic straight insert anchors do not snug up with the supplied screws. However we used the supplied plastic toggles with better results. The hardware is why I rate this 4 stars. Otherwise, it is a nice piece, and well worth the price.

Pieces missing, poor instructions, would not buy again!
Let's start with the good news: I did, eventually, get the shelves hung after a trip to the hardware store and some trial and error. Now for the bad news: * One of the screws holding the brace to the shelf was missing, making the shelf wobbly before I even hung it. * The directions for hanging the shelves show a different anchor than the one that comes packaged with them. This anchor will ONLY work in sturdy drywall and it's going to leave a huge hole behind. * The directions tell you to flip the shelf upside-down to position and mark the screw holes, BUT that means the sides of the shelf are reversed, and the hole positions do not match on each side. So if you start hammering or drilling based on those marks, they don't align and now you have extra holes in your wall. Honestly, I regret buying these and wish I'd just chosen a free-standing shelf instead. But I made it work for me, so I guess there's that.
