Experience premium audio transmission with Monoprice Choice Series 14AWG Oxygen-Free Pure Bare Copper Speaker Wire. This high-quality two-conductor cable is designed for clarity, reliability, and long-term performance in home theaters, stereo setups, and multi-room systems. Built from oxygen-free copper with a purity greater than 99.95%, this bare copper wire minimizes resistance and signal loss so you hear music and movies as the artist intended. When you want to maximize your amplifier’s potential and preserve the integrity of your favorite recordings, this 300-foot spool delivers the value, durability, and performance you need.

  • Conductor quality and purity: Two conductors are crafted from high-purity (>99.95%) oxygen-free bare copper, delivering superior conductivity and reduced signal degradation compared with copper-clad aluminum (CCA) or lower-purity options. This means cleaner highs, tighter bass, and more accurate imaging across your listening space.
  • 14 AWG, two-conductor design: The 14 AWG gauge provides a robust balance of current handling and flexibility for typical speaker loads. The two-conductor layout ensures straightforward connections to receivers, amplifiers, and speakers, while the bare copper construction minimizes resistance and maintains signal integrity over moderate to long runs.
  • Long spool for versatile wiring: At 300 feet, you have ample wire to cover large rooms, multiple speakers, or multi-room configurations without needing frequent reorders. The generous length reduces the number of splices or additional purchases, making it ideal for home theater installs, basements, or upstairs living spaces.
  • Pure copper advantage over alternatives: Pure oxygen-free copper offers superior conductivity compared to copper-clad aluminum, providing better voltage transfer and efficiency. This translates to more authoritative amplification of your speakers, with less audible resistance in the signal path and improved dynamics during cresting passages and musical transients.
  • Ease of installation and broad compatibility: The flexible bare copper wires work with standard speaker terminals, binding posts, banana plugs, and spade connectors after trimming and stripping ends. This makes it a versatile choice for DIY enthusiasts and professional installers alike, whether you’re wiring a simple two-channel setup or a larger surround system.

How to Install Monoprice Choice Series 14AWG Oxygen-Free Pure Bare Copper Speaker Wire

  • Plan your route: Before cutting, map out the path from your amplifier or receiver to each speaker. Consider doorways, corners, and potential pinch points. A clean, indirect route helps prevent damage and keeps the installation looking tidy.
  • Measure and cut: Measure the distance for each run and add a little extra length for slack and routing around obstacles. Use sharp wire cutters to cut clean, straight ends from the 300-ft spool, keeping the wire organized to prevent tangling.
  • Strip the ends: Since the wire is bare copper, you’ll need to strip a small portion of each conductor to expose enough copper for a secure connection. Remove about 1/2 inch of bare copper insulation (if any remains near the end) to reveal clean, shiny copper strands for termination.
  • Attach to terminals: Connect the positive and negative conductors to your speaker terminals and amplifier outputs. Use the appropriate connectors—binding posts, banana plugs, or spade littings—ensuring you preserve correct polarity to avoid phase issues and bass cancellation. Tighten securely to prevent pull-out or loose connections.
  • Route securely and test: Route wires along baseboards, behind furniture, or within walls as needed. Secure with cable clips or ties to prevent movement, then power on your system and test for sound quality, ensuring there is no hum, crackle, or short.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What makes Oxygen-Free Pure Bare Copper speaker wire better?
A: Oxygen-free copper offers lower resistive losses and higher conductivity than copper-clad alternatives, which translates to clearer sound reproduction, more precise imaging, and better dynamic response—especially noticeable in long cable runs or high-fidelity setups.
  • Q: Is this wire insulated?
A: No. The product uses bare copper conductors. It is designed for direct termination to speakers and equipment with proper connectors or terminals, and may require insulation for in-wall installations or protected routing.
  • Q: How long is the spool?
A: The spool length is 300 feet, providing ample material for multiple runs, multi-room configurations, or future expansions.
  • Q: Can I use banana plugs with this wire?
A: Yes. After stripping ends to expose copper, you can insert the conductors into banana plugs or attach them to binding posts using standard installation practices.
  • Q: How does this wire compare to copper-clad aluminum (CCA)?
A: Pure oxygen-free copper offers superior conductivity and lower resistance than CCA, which means less signal loss and better overall audio performance, particularly noticeable in demanding audio applications or longer cable runs.

Building something wonderful out of the broken pieces
Format: Hardcover
Meg Eden Kuyatt has done it again. I am a big fan of novel in verse, and this author is one reason why. The poetry delivers character, setting, and story in a clear, believable voice. The protagonist, V, is a middle school girl full of feelings, celebrating her difference while fighting for her place in the wonderland of neurotypicals. V introduces herself in vibrant socks that say “I am strange and wonderful.” And with that, we are off. V is reluctantly spending the summer with her grandma Jojo in the pristine white house that has been in her family for generations. History is definitely living here. The house is a character itself (and a metaphor). I love that V’s cousin Cat creates assemblages, an art form I was not familiar with. Cat describes it as taking discarded, broken stuff and turning it into something beautiful (another metaphor). There is a lot going on here and a satisfying resolution brought on by a heaping dose of empathy. Highly recommend for the suggested audience (juvenile fiction, grades 3-7), their teachers, and families with neurodivergence.

Emotionally messy relationships with unreliable narrators
Format: Hardcover
Meg Eden Kuyatt guides us through a beautifully lyrical journey into the life of V, an autistic girl forced to spend the summer with her overbearing grandmother. The story is often more metaphorical than literal, which works well thematically since it revolves around emotionally messy relationships with unreliable narrators, making the details of both the past and present difficult to pin down. Overall, a great read that will be appreciated by both kids and adults looking for mature, nuanced stories about dysfunctional families and the autistic experience.

Excellent (slightly) spooky read
Format: Hardcover
Another great read by Meg Eden Kuyatt. I am not much of a scary books fan, but this one was so good. I especially loved that the main character has autism and we learn so much through how different members of her family treat her.
