These drivers allow Focal to forsake crossovers and passive filters to provide an extended frequency response of 5 Hz to 50 kHz.
For committed, discerning audio enthusiasts, these open-backed, circumaural headphones deliver a natural, realistic sound stage with precise sonic reproduction. Made from premium, sophisticated materials, they offer an ultra-comfortable fit built for hours of enjoyment. This design extends to the connections, cabling, and form factor. For instance, each of the two supplied cables attaches to the Utopia's earcups by means of two locking, shielded LEMO connectors. One cable is 5' in length and offers a 3.5mm TRS unbalanced connection (a 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter is included). The second cable is 10' in length and features a 4-pin XLR balanced connection for use with high-end headphone DACs and amplifiers such as the Focal Arche. Both cables are constructed with 24 AWG oxygen-free copper wiring.
The headband adjusts to accommodate a wide variety of head shapes and sizes, and the forged, recycled carbon yokes and leather padding provide hours of comfortable musical enjoyment without coloring the sound quality in any way. The earcups feature memory-foam cushions upholstered in perforated lambskin leather specially engineered to optimize sound quality and ensure a luxurious listening experience. The Utopia headphones are made in France in the Focal workshops.
