This front engine guard, a sacrificial item, is designed to prevent expensive damage from occurring to your drivetrain components in the event of an accident. Constructed of beefy steel and powder coated for a smart, durable appearance, these crash bars can help prevent delicate engine, transmission, and primary components from the severe damage that can occur when a motorcycle first contacts the pavement.
After the initial impact, the Delrin® sliders provide a surface that reduces friction. In a loss-of-control event, this sliding is desirable; plain steel can "dig in" to pavement, causing the motorcycle to flip. The sliders are replaceable (P/N) 103-0020), so minor mishaps come with minor costs.
